Talking about the show, Rannvijay Singha said, “What started as an online format in Season 1 has now become an offline session with contestants in the same space in Season 2. It was a lot of fun to see a whole new level of expertise and poker skills displayed this season.”
“Clearly, poker looks like the next big indoor sport, all thanks to The Player Hunt. The contestants were amazing, and I had the best time hosting this show with my brother. I’m also excited about broadcasting ‘The Player Hunt Season 2’ on my YouTube channel. I’m confident that my subscribers will enjoy watching it as much as I did hosting it,” he added.
Speaking about the show, Rannvijay`s brother and co-host Harman Singha added, “It’s a great medium designed to onboard players into the poker community for unique experiences. Besides, if someone’s looking for an opportunity to participate in Season 3 of The Player Hunt, The Hunter Campaign is a must-follow. It’s an exciting time for the show.”
Season 2 of The Player Hunt started with an online selection process (March 20 – April 13), where players had to play on PokerHigh and meet specific milestones to qualify for the audition round. PokerHigh also hosted special freerolls to allow upcoming players a chance to qualify.
Selected players then auditioned for the show, first by submitting personally recorded videos, and those who got shortlisted were called for an in-person audition. The auditions closed on April 15, with 16 players making it to the show.
The show was shot at an undisclosed location near Mumbai from June 2 to 19.
The Player Hunt Season 2 – What to Expect
For the unaware, The Player Hunt is a community-based competition where players who meet specific eligibility criteria get the chance to participate.
The Player Hunt Season 2 is a sequel to the show’s inaugural season that debuted in January last year and was a huge hit, with over 1 Million views across various digital media platforms.
Season 2 promises to be bigger and better and ran through the following rounds:
Round 1 – Selection (March 20 – April 13)
The first round of The Player Hunt S2 required aspirants to sign up on PokerHigh and make a deposit using a code to enroll. They were tasked with playing real-money games on the site in a format of their choice.
Cash game players had different criteria to make the shortlist: they had to collect crowns to qualify for the audition round, and those collecting the maximum crowns were selected.
Pokerhigh also ran special freerolls on April 6, 9, and 13, where the top 10 winners of each freeroll got a direct entry in Round 2.
Players making it through the selection process had to audition for the show.
Round 2 – Audition
Eligible players from Round 1 were asked to make an audition video talking about their passion for poker and why they want to be on the show. Shortlisted videos were asked to come for a final in-person audition.
Round 3 – The Show
A total of 16 players from the audition round were selected for the show, which was shot at a location near Mumbai during April this year.
The shortlisted players include well-known regs like the WPT Prime Vietnam Main Event champion Zarvan Tumboli, long-time circuit regular Bobbe Suri, and model-cum-poker player Samay Singh Modi. The other contestants include poker streamer Harsh Dev Jhirmiria, Avanie Joshi, Neytri S, Arjun Rathi, Hiren Kacchadiya, Puja Agarwal, Harsh Kumar, Himanshu Chhikkara, Kamal Punjabi, Kumar Anshu, Rahul Kumar, Lakshay Narula, and Mihir P Ganatra.
That’s quite a talented mixed bunch of poker players! If Season 1 set the record as a one-of-its-kind poker-based reality show in India, Season 2, with the Singha brothers glamour thrown in, promises to be a must-watch series!
