In line with PokerStars‘ global strategy of awarding Platinum Passes at its marquee stops, the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) Millions was the latest one to give away a Platinum Pass for the 2020 PokerStars Player’s Championship (PSPC).
In the Akkari’s Road to PSPC 1M GTD Micro Millions event, Peruvian Sebastian Gaviño (cover image) defeated Brazilian Gabriel Finetto heads-up to win R$132,570 (~$31,757) and the Platinum Pass worth an additional $30,000.
The BSOP Millions turned out to be the most massive poker tournament to be ever held in the Southern Hemisphere. The 2019 BSOP Millions comprised of forty featured events and boasted an accumulated GTD of R$15 million. The series took place in the beautiful city of Sao Paulo at WTC Sheraton Golden Hall from November 26 – December 5th.
The Akkari’s Road to PSPC Micro Millions event attracted a total of 4,142 entries courtesy of six starting flights, making it the biggest tournament in BSOP history and the largest-ever poker tournament held in South America.
The Platinum Pass awarded to Gaviño, includes a seat worth €22,500 at PSPC, six days of hotel accommodation for two, free air travel, custom PSPC merchandise, and an additional €1,250 for expenses.

For the uninitiated, the PSPC is a new annual event that was announced by PokerStars last year. It went on to make its debut during the PCA in the Bahamas in January this year. Over 1,000 players competed in the $25,000 event, making the PSPC a stupendous success. 181 players took a bite out of the gigantic prize pool of over $26.45 million! The 2020 edition will be held in Barcelona as a part of the European Poker Tour (EPT) from August 20-24 at Casino Barcelona.
Future Opportunities to Win Platinum Passes

PokerStars Ambassadors Chris Moneymaker and Andre Akkari presented Gaviño the Platinum Pass award.
Talking to PokerStars reporters after his victory, Gavino said: “I really wanted to win the Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship in Barcelona, and thank God, my dream came true,”.
He added further: “This victory is the best thing that has happened in my life. So far I had not lived anything like it.”
According to updates, the pivotal hand took place during five-handed play where Gaviño’s pocket aces held in a three-way all-in situation, resulting in him acquiring 75% of the chips in the game.
Heads-up turned out to be an intense battle between Gabriel Finetto and the Peruvian Gaviño. But Gaviño held firmly to secure victory, becoming the latest recipient of a Platinum Pass.
