A first-of-its kind seminar has been jointly organized by Khelplay.com and Glaws.in titled Recent Developments in the Skill Games Industry’. The seminar will be held on June 10 between 3 pm – 6 pm at the MCA Recreation Centre, Mumbai.

The seminar has been planned keeping in mind the current gaming environment in the country and to discuss the recent developments in the industry.

The past year has been a monumental one for games, such as poker, rummy, sports betting and fantasy sports in India, with several ramifications for both, players and operators. This has given rise to issues concerning the legality of these sports, taxation on income and foreign remittances and non-payment of dues by operators, be they online or offline. Additionally, the newly introduced Nagaland law regulating online skill games has left many wondering about the impact of these developments.

Discussion With Question & Answer Session

Presiding over the discussion will be eminent experts from the industry, with Gowree Gokhale, Senior Partner of Nishith Desai Associates, one of the country’s most reputed legal firms. Joining her will be Amit Varma, esteemed writer and journalist and poker player, as well as Vidushpat Singhania, a sports lawyer.

Moderating the discussion will be Jay Sayta, who has founded Glaws.in, India’s first and only site on gaming laws.

Post the discussion, there will also be a question and answer session.

Agenda & Registration

The seminar will address all this and more, making it vital for anyone associated with the Indian gaming industry to attend. Some of the chief points to be covered will include –

  • Implications of the Nagaland Online Games of Skill Act and its implications on poker, rummy and other skill games operators- critically analysing the new Act and licensing guidelines.
