For those who have tracked the exciting near two-month long run of the 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at Las Vegas this summer, and the ongoing WSOPE at King’s Casino, Rozvadov, Shaun Deeb (cover image) is no stranger.

Deeb picked up two bracelets at WSOP 2018 where he took down the $25K PLO High Roller and the other in the $10K NLHE Six-Max event. He also has four final table finishes, a total of 20 cashes and $2.53 Million in WSOP tournament winnings this year. With such an impressive scorecard, Deeb, who has already accumulated a further four scores at WSOPE, catapulted himself to the top in the WSOP 2018 Player of the Year (POY) race, and won it!

The four-time WSOP bracelet winner accrued a total of 5,073 points and leads by a big margin, the other top contenders, including Ben Yu who trails him in the second spot with 3,746 points, Joe Cada who has accrued 3,531 points and John Hennigan with 3,499 points.

Deeb was for long, a contender for the POY title but it was a close race, with chances of Michael Addamo taking over, after Addamo’s win in the WSOPE €25K High Roller and his entry in the Main Event. However, Addamo’sout of money elimination from the Main Event pulled him out of Deeb’s way in the POY race.

WSOP announced Deeb’s win of the POY Title in a post dated October 29, on Twitter.

WSOP also shared Deeb’s statistical earnings and scores that got him to take the top spot.

The WSOP 2018 POY race has taken into account, performances of 72 bracelet events that were hosted during the 2018 WSOP at Las Vegas this summer, and the WSOPE tournaments.

It was not just Deeb’s phenomenal runs at the WSOP, but his determination to give it all for the POY race that calls for applause.

At WSOP, Deeb was seen multi-tabling events. He managed to repeat this at King’s Casino in Rozvadov as well, during the ongoing WSOP Europe stop, where he scored in four events, including a runner-up finish in the €1,650 PLO/NLHE Mixed for €63,731, and an 11th place finish in the €1,550 NLHE 6-Max Deepstack for €4,640.
