The Sikkim government released another license, almost three months after it issued the first in favor of a subsidiary of Future Gaming. According to the report on Glaws.in, this second regular ‘online’ license has been given to M/s Maarm International Private Limited, valid for five years starting April 1, 2015.
The conditions of the license remain the same as those for Future Gaming and include the clause that this online gaming would be available only across the state of Sikkim through intranet connection and not filter outside to other territories. A fee of ₹1 crore has been charged for this license, with an option for renewal after 5 years. It is believed that some more operators are also in the process of acquiring similar licenses.
Manoj Sethi, Dir, Maarm International expressed pleasure for this “online” license and said, “We are very happy that the Sikkim government has started the process of online gaming regulation. We have made all preparations and started building the necessary infrastructure as well as technical support. We hope to start operations within the state of Sikkim as soon as possible and definitely by April 2015. We are also in talks with the Central government and other state governments to ensure that online gaming is legalized in more states and Union territories.”
Sethi added that his company was collaborating with Jalaram Group of Industries and its founder Mohan Ganatra, as well as with Golden Lotteries, an established lottery brand in Sikkim. This partnership sought to provide state of the art gaming facilities in Sikkim.
Kapil Khanna, CEO, Future Gaming had declared that his company would be ready to begin online offering, latest by April. With this additional announcement, Sikkim players can look forward to at least two legal online gaming sites, in time to catch the upcoming IPL season.
