Amit Gehani Gets to Wear the Majestic Crown, Wins IOPC – The Crown For ₹56.40 Lakhs!

We knew with two mega-series, Spartan Poker`s IOPC and PokerBaazi`s APT India Online Series, racing to the finish line, yesterday was going to be one of the BIGGEST Sundays of the year. Well, the online action certainly did not disappoint!

Amit Gehani was the Sunday star who burned so bright that he overshadowed everyone else. The poker reg from Dubai trounced over a 3,938-entry field in Spartan Poker’s magnum opus, IOPC – The Crown, clinching his career-second IOPC title and a career-best 56.40 Lakhs (cumulatively from three ITM finishes)! PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Munot came second for a bankroll-boosting 34.59 Lakhs!

Four-time Destiny champion Nitin Arora won the IOPC #111 – Sunday Prime for 13.78 Lakhs and locked in 18.62 Lakhs (cumulatively) from his Sunday run. Rising Star Ritwik Khanna finished runner-up for 8.68 Lakhs, ending Sunday with 9.58 Lakhs in overall earnings.

Young Gun Karan Radia has been in phenomenal form throughout the 12th edition of the IOPC. Since he has opted out of our tracked database, it is difficult to dish out his exact stats. Still, he was the only player to have won four titles in the series.

Saransh Garg won IOPC #110 for 1.21 Lakhs while Siddharth Gangwar topped the IOPC#112 – All Rounder SNG for 3 Lakhs.

Bhanu Prakash KC set a new record at the IOPC by topping the leaderboard standings for an incredible third time. He banked 30 Lakhs in bonuses for his consistency.

Moving over to APT India, Amar Mehta clinched the Main Event trophy, banking an impressive 17.50 Lakhs and the APT Championship Ring. With six ITM finishes under his belt, Amar Mehta banked 18.98 Lakhs in Sunday winnings. Rubin Labroo placed runner-up for 12.26 Lakhs.

Gaurav Sharma (Won APT#42 Megastack for 3.19 Lakhs), Unnikrishnan Nair (Won APT#43 Afterparty for 2.40 Lakhs), Taliwabang Jamir (Won APT#39 Monsterstack for 2.29 Lakhs), and Myron Pereira (Won APT #38 (5 Max) Turbo for 1.72 Lakhs) won the other APT events.

PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun Mahesh came out on top in Adda52 Millions to collect 6.60 Lakhs, while Mahesh Shyamsundar won Mega Suits for 5.26 Lakhs.

Young Gun Anmol Mehta took down PokerStars India’s Sunday Special – Progressive KO for 2.75 Lakhs. PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh shipped the second EPT Sochi Main Event qualifier, winning an all-expenses-paid Main Event Package worth 4 Lakhs.

Ritesh Kumar and Abhiroop Gupta were the other Sunday winners.

Spartan Poker

After 18 days of high-octane action, the 12th Edition of the IOPC is finally in the books. And what a guarantee-crushing series it has been!

The last day of the series had eight events running, with the series showstopper – ₹3.50 Crores GTD IOPC#114 – The Crown – leading the charge. The ₹11,000 buy-in event logged in 3,938 entries, generating a ginormous ₹3.93 Crores prize pool. A total of 565 qualifying stacks returned for Day 2. The play continued for nearly 10 hours before Amit ‘Kavipri’ Gehani emerged as the new IOPC – The Crown champion, making away with a personal-best ₹56.40 Lakhs (he cashed The Crown on three stacks)!

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Amit Gehani has been making frequent appearances in our daily reports. If you don’t remember his IOPC Legends win from last year (July edition), then you must recall his runner-up finish in the IOPC High Roller of this series.

The four-time Destiny champion Nitin ‘Demogorgon’ Arora was the last player standing, and he walked away with a winner’s paycheque worth ₹13.78 Lakhs while Rising Star Ritwik ‘Fisherman1997’ Khanna came second for ₹8.68 Lakhs.

Karan Radia also placed third in IOPC #111 – Sunday Prime for ₹6.21 Lakhs. Considering his recent MTT exploits, the London-based player would have undoubtedly featured as one of the top-ranked players on the annual leaderboard had he opted into our tracking.

The ₹7.50 Lakhs IOPC #109 obliterated its listed guarantee by ₹1.22 Lakhs as 436 entrants ponied up the ₹2,200 buy-in, and the top 39 places landed in the money zone. With Day 18 now in the books, we can finally announce the IOPC Leaderboard toppers. Expectedly, well-known leaderboard crusher Bhanu ‘ikiru’ Prakash KC tops the standings for a record-extending third time, netting the ₹30 Lakhs in bonuses up-top.

Adding more firepower to the blockbuster Sunday was the finale of the third edition of the ₹7+ Crores GTD Asian Poker Tour (APT) Online India. The final day of the series crowned six winners.

The biggest draw of the day was the series’ showstopper ₹1 Crore GTD APT#41 Main Event. The ₹11,000 buy-in Main Event logged in 919 entries, falling ₹8.10 Lakhs short of its advertised guarantee. The APT#9 Monday Major winner Amar ‘kidpoker0109’ Mehta championed the Main Event to win his second APT Trophy at the series, a career-best ₹17.50 Lakhs in prize money, and the APT Championship Ring. Young Gun Anmol ‘Kaanchacheena’ Mehta was the last player standing and walked away with the ₹2.75 Lakhs up-top along with his second MTT title on the site in three days. Vaibhav ‘GTO_LIFE_GG’ Sharma placed runner-up for ₹2.06 Lakhs.

The site`s Sunday 9 PM mainstay, ₹25 Lakhs GTD Adda52 Millions, recorded a 254 player starting field, making for a ₹25.40 Lakhs prize pool. A total of 27 spots got paid. The dust settled at 5.18 AM, with the former The Millionaire champion, PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘themiths’ Mahesh winning the bragging rights for ₹6.60 Lakhs. Aditya ‘konstantin’ Singh finished runner-up for ₹3.94 Lakhs.
