Within just four months of its launch, Spartan Poker has swept the Indian poker community of its feet, becoming the country’s fastest growing site, much as its tagline says, “Where India Plays Poker!’

The site has now added another feather to its already growing cap, by signing up its first Team Pro Sangeeth ‘Samoh’ Mohan. Samoh is a well-known name on the Indian circuit and with his entry; players can certainly look forward to some thrilling action at the site. Spartan Poker already has Team Mentor Rohit Bhalla and the addition of Samoh as Team Pro, makes for an unbeatable combination.

In recent weeks, Spartan Poker has zoomed into the limelight, with its newly revamped tournament structure and several thrilling and innovative promotions. Chief among these has been the first-of-its-kind Spartan Bankroll Challenge (SBC), which is currently in its last week. Team Mentor Rohit Bhalla has already announced the second edition of the SBC, with an increased starting bankroll exclusively for Omaha players.

Adding to the excitement is the IPC INR 50K Online High Roller tournament, another Spartan exclusive, which is slated to take place on Oct 2.

It’s not surprising to find these gems coming from Spartan Poker, considering that the company is a collaboration of two of the pioneering poker companies in the industry – namely PokerGuru and the IPC!

Once arch rivals, the two groups first zoomed into the limelight during the golden era of Indian poker from 2011 to 2012, when the competition was cut-throat and poker rooms resorted to political strategizing to pitch organizers against each other. Both players developed a strong platform of their own and in a cold war, continued to carve a place for themselves in the industry.

The last few years have been tumultuous ones for the Indian poker landscape, with landmark developments, such as TDS deductions becoming mandatory at live tournaments in Goa. Just as the live poker scene began fading, Bengaluru got the HC verdict, giving the game a new lease of life and the country another poker-destination.

At such a time several new sprouting sites could be seen, but definitely the greatest surprise was the coming together of these early rivals PokerGuru and the IPC, to form Spartan Poker.

By collaborating to form Spartan Poker, the two created a win-win situation, not only for the business, but for the entire poker community, giving them the best of their collective experience and combined innovation.

Spartan Poker is not just a run-of-the-mill site offering players only games, but seeks to develop an environment of growth within the country, providing players an opportunity to learn from the best talent and flourish to international standards.

Team Mentor Rohit Bhalla paved the way for this with the SBC, where players received a bankroll of ₹25K and 4 weeks to convert that into profits. Bhalla is now busy with the SBC PLO exclusively for Omaha players and a starting bankroll of ₹50K.

The most innovative event on the horizon though, will be the IPC Oct ₹50K High Roller, which will begin online on Oct 2. A brain-child of Spartan Poker, the event will culminate with a live final table in Goa on Oct 8.

With Team Pro Sangeeth ‘Samoh’ Mohan joining Spartan, players can expect the action at Spartan Poker to escalate to electrifying levels, with an initial promo already announced – a daily tournament called “The Samoh Daily” each afternoon at 3 pm.

Samoh brings to the table his immense and diverse experience, which began in Corporate training and ultimately led him to poker. The gentle giant was among those early birds who received mentorship from Team PokerStars Pro Aditya Agarwal, back in the heydays of 2010-2011. Samoh went on to carve an impressive career as a poker player and in 2011, he claimed 5 tournaments in Goa alone, besides several other great scores in India, Macau and the Philippines.

It was not long before Samoh combined his earlier corporate experience with his poker knowledge to start his own venture – The House of Spew (THOS) in Bengaluru. THOS successfully conducted many tournaments during the last year in the Garden City.

In recent times, Samoh has been under the radar, due to his shift to cash games and relocation to Kochi after his marriage. The induction of Samoh as the first Spartan Poker Team Pro is apt and in keeping with the site’s manifesto of incorporating dynamic members to enhance the poker landscape in the country.

Samoh has announced his entry to Spartan Poker in his PokerGuru blog, where he states, “It gives me great pride to be chosen as the first Spartan Pro and to represent them is an honour. I began my Poker career under the tutelage of Aditya “Intervention” Agarwal. And went on to becoming a PokerGuru pro. Those days were life changing for me both professionally and personally. Anyone who has interacted with Intervention knows what exactly I am talking about. Every person in their life reaches a turning point which changes everything for him. And being a PG pro was exactly that for me.”

The pro goes on to talk about the poker scene and says, “Poker in India has grown exponentially from when I started playing about 5 years ago. The tournaments have increased in frequency and we witnessed the highest footfall in any Indian Poker Tournament in the recently concluded IPC August’15. Also there are a number of online Poker sites that offer state of the art player experience. Spartan being one of the latest entrants. Speaking of Spartan Poker, it is the coming together of the biggest Poker conglomerates in India, namely IPC and PokerGuru.”

Spartan Poker has a great team, high spirits, and the best interest of the game in mind. . See you all at the felts, both virtual and real!!!” Samoh concludes.

Within just 4 months of its inception, Spartan has become the centrifugal pivot for the Indian poker scene and with its latest recruit, Samoh, aspiring players can only look to greater times ahead. While details have not yet been revealed, Samoh has mentioned that he will be releasing a thrilling new promotion shortly at Spartan Poker!
