From India`s most trusted online poker site PokerBaazi to the international gaming major PokerStars’ ring-fenced site i.e. PokerStars India, fast emerging portals MadOverPoker and Khelo365, the action was nail-biting enough this Sunday.
Headlining the Sunday wins was Anurag ’13anurag’ Srivastava, who bested a field of 481 entries and defeated Team PokerGuru ambassador Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved heads-up to take down the BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (RE) on PokerBaazi for ₹4.75 Lakhs, while Ved added ₹3.43 Lakhs to his bankroll for his runner-up finish.
Hot on the heels of Srivastava was Rubin ‘kornkid4’ Labroo. Labroo was among the 313 entries to join the Sunday Special-Progressive Knock Out ₹15 Lakhs GTD at PokerStars India and emerged triumphant, netting a hefty ₹4.20 Lakhs for his win.
At PokerBaazi we saw a number of high-value tournaments run their course to crown champions in ‘Thiamuanpuia’ (The Monster 6-Max ₹5 Lakhs GTD -₹1.47 Lakhs), Chirag ‘miyagi’ Sodha (BSS PLO ₹5 Lakhs GTD – for ₹1.45 Lakhs), Bahu ‘intervntion’ Bali (BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD (RE) – ₹1.40 Lakhs) and rohit25king‘ (Sunday ₹1 Lakh GTD – ₹17,810).
Team PokerGuru ambassadors were seen in top form in two headline tournaments this past Sunday. Even as Ved gave Srivastava a run for his money in the BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (RE), Laksh ‘B00MTilt23’ Pal Singh was another who pulled in a major score, finishing third for ₹1.18 Lakhs in the Sunday Special-Progressive Knock Out ₹15 Lakhs GTD. But the biggest win for Team PokerGuru came in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Sochi NLHE Main Event qualifier that was hosted on PokerStars India on January 27. The site offered an entry to the EPT Sochi Main Event, scheduled for March 24-29, a seven-nights accommodation for two at the Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana hotel and up to ₹40,000 for other expenses. The tournament attracted 58 entries that included regulars like Pranay ‘AankhDikhatahai’ Chawla, Joey ‘inisme’ Saha and Platinum Pass winner Nikhil Segel. Outrunning them all was Team PokerGuru ambassador Tathagatha ‘RadioActivity’ Sengupta who rose to the top and with that punched his ticket for the EPT Sochi Main Event!
Other big winners on PokerStars India were ‘Sogani22′ (Sunday Storm ₹2 Lakhs GTD – ₹39,272), ‘SpidermanIndia’ (Classic ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD – ₹38,404), ‘Thewoman101’ (Sunday Stars ₹2 Lakhs GTD – ₹31,691), NoChan(3′ (Sunday Warm-Up ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD – ₹31,249) and ‘Xbox010’ (The Ultrasonic ₹1 Lakhs GTD – ₹23,005).
Meanwhile, an action-packed Sunday on MadOverPoker saw the site’s flagship tournament, Dynamite attract 86 entries and besting the competition was Ashutosh ‘TylerDurden’ Balodhi who took down the event for ₹37,117. The other MOP winners were Hriday ‘Sigma’ Mondal Hriday ‘Sigma’ Mondal (Grenade – ₹24,615) and Amarjit ‘ninjakar’ Singh (Night Crawler – ₹14,608).
Hosting flavors of patriotism, trusted online poker site Khelo conducted a Republic Day Special Tournament ₹1 Lakh GTD on January 26. The tournament featured a buy-in of ₹2,200 and was won by ‘zufu’ who took home ₹50, 400 in prize money. Additionally, the Immortals Leaderboard at the site was topped by ‘bensonpinto’ (Apollo – ₹14,000), ‘punyasloka’ (Ares – ₹10,000) and ‘Praveenk1292’ (Hades – ₹1,500).
