It was a blockbuster Sunday by all means, with each platform trying to outdo the other with regards to tournament guarantees. With two Millionaire editions playing out alongside a packed AOPS schedule and the other Sunday flagships, the action was furiously intense and profitable! Here`s a complete recap.
Spartan Poker
Spartan Poker came out all guns blazing on Sunday with not one but two Millionaire events crowning champions! The first Millionaire to begin proceedings was the ₹35 Lakhs GTD UVS The Millionaire Lite promising a whopping ₹10 Lakhs to the winner. Registering 1,716 entries across three starting flights, Sunday saw Day 2 play out with 154 entries that consisted of 136 unique players. Rising atop the reg-infested field was a well-known pro Sumit ‘Sands Myth’ Sapra. Sapra, who joined APL as the brand ambassador last December, boasts of more than ₹3.78 Crore in online winnings. Last night he entered the exclusive ‘Millionaire`s Club’ winning ₹10 Lakhs after defeating Kunal ‘TiltAtma’ Patni (runner-up for ₹5.14 Lakhs) heads-up. Patni didn’t have a bad Sunday either. In addition to his trailblazing run in The Millionaire LITE, he also final tabled the Sunday Highroller ₹20 Lakhs GTD for a ₹1.31 Lakhs paycheque.
Not stopping at this, Sapra final tabled two more events. He finished fifth in the AOPS Monster Turbo for ₹63,061 and raked in an eighth-place score worth ₹56,793 at the ₹20 Lakhs GTD Sunday Highroller on PokerStars India. Sapra scored a 39th place finish at ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire for a ₹45,000 payday as well!
Paras ‘AAKKQQJJ’ Jain (3rd for ₹2.88 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul ‘Super Kings’ Raj (4th for ₹2.01 Lakhs), Suraj ‘surajtodi’ Todi (6th for ₹87,500), Sandeep Varma ‘effuno’ RS (8th for ₹49,000), & Gaurav ‘gaush’ Sharma (9th for ₹43,750) were the other notable players who final tabled The Millionaire LITE.
Just a few hours after Day 2 of The Millionaire LITE flagged off, we saw the flagship tourney of the day, The Millionaire ₹1 Crore GTD commencing. A total of 886 entries rolled in, each ponying up the ₹11,000 buy-in, resulting in the tournament organizers having to cover a sizable shortfall worth ₹11.40 Lakhs. In the end, it was anonymous user ‘masterbluff’ who triumphed to become a Millionaire champion following a heads-up deal with ‘1-855-925-7070’ (runner-up for ₹14.09 Lakhs). A ₹16.97 Lakhs payday is the anonymous player`s best online score to date. He had on May 7, scored a runner-up finish in the ₹60 Lakhs GTD SSS High Roller for ₹10.20 Lakhs. ‘masterbluff’ had also won another Spartan flagship, MegaStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD on May 19 for ₹4.23 Lakhs.
Missing the title by whiskers was Shashank ‘westworld’ Jain (3rd for ₹8.53 Lakhs). Nonetheless, the PPL High Roller champion has now officially crossed the ₹1 Crore-mark in winnings for the year!
A talented lineup of MTT pros including Abhishek ‘TheMagician’ Paul (5th for ₹5.20 Lakhs), Kaushik ‘kgjadoo’ Ghosh (6th for ₹4.07 Lakhs), and former Millionaire Champion`s Anuj ‘tittoo Tauji’ Yadav (7th for ₹3.01 Lakhs) and Arjun ‘lol this guy’ Pasricha (9th for ₹1.63 Lakhs) FT-ed the tourney.
Another online reg to win a flagship title on Spartan Poker last night was Shashank ‘Goldfish097’ Shekhar. He powered his way through a 766-entry field and defeated the formidable Manish ‘potlords’ Gandhi (runner-up for ₹4.65 Lakhs) heads-up to win the ₹35 Lakhs GTD Sunday SuperStack title. The title win ended a two-month-long dry spell for Shekhar, fetching him a sizable ₹7.39 Lakhs in prize money! The numbers were good enough to collect a guarantee-smashing prize pool of ₹38.30 Lakhs.
The ₹10 Lakhs GTD UVS Big Daddy suffered an overlay of ₹1.46 Lakhs on the back of a field of 427 entries. Utkarsh ‘kidpokerNJ’ Vaish proved the last player standing and defeated ‘wirepower’ (2nd for ₹1.33 Lakhs) heads-up to pocket the ₹2 Lakhs up top.
Rajat ‘BloatedBelly’ Mahajan was another top performer on Sunday, for he booked fifth-place finishes in two headline events last night. While he pocketed ₹61,700 for his finish in the Big Daddy, Mahajan also went on to collect a more substantial ₹6 Lakhs for his fifth-place finish in the AOPS Mini ME Finale!
PokerBaazi
PokerBaazi’s ₹5,500 buy-in BSS SuperStack ran with a ₹25 Lakhs GTD prize pool yesterday. The tourney did well to register 500 runners (250 unique and 250 re-entries) just about meeting the guarantee. Former Millionaire champion Dhinesh ‘dhineshrocky007’ Kumar snagged the top honors and the ₹4.86 Lakhs cash prize that came with it after he beat Vinay ‘vinay09’ Rajpal to the finish line. Rajpal padded his bankroll by ₹3.41 Lakhs for coming in second.
Kumar ’23offsuits’ Vatsal (3rd for ₹2.19 Lakhs), Anurag ’13anurag’ Srivastava (4th for ₹1.62 Lakhs), Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia (5th for ₹1.22 Lakhs), Hitesh ‘hiteshbhai’ Batra (6th for ₹97,500), Rishab ‘ryuk’ Malik (7th for ₹81,250), PokerGuru Ambassador Jayjit ‘england’ Ray (8th for ₹64,750), and Rachit ‘rachubaba’ Arora (9th for ₹48,750) were the other prominent names on the FT.
Also claiming a big win was ‘Ironhide,’ who outlasted a field of 356 entries to conquer the ₹10 Lakhs GTD BSS MegaStack title for ₹2.10 Lakhs. The player defeated ‘Thefatfish87’ (2nd for ₹1.47 Lakhs) on his way to victory.
Meanwhile, it was ‘9828036067’ who topped the 713-strong field at the ₹25 Lakhs GTD Mega Depositor’s Freeroll on the site with Prateek ‘khotasikka’ Singh taking up second place.
Adda52
If there were two Millionaire events on Spartan Poker, dominating the Sunday action was Adda52’s AOPS Mini ME Finale. Promising a mind-boggling ₹1.5 Crore in prize money, the tourney was the cynosure of all eyes yesterday. A total of seven flights played out all across the week for the tourney to finally arrive at a field size of 1,890 entries. Despite this, the tourney logged in a massive ₹21.10 Lakhs overlay.
Only 238 players qualified through to Day 2, and after hours of hectic play, it was PokerGuru Ambassador Arjanveer Singh ‘arjan30’ Chadha, who came out on top to win a career-best ₹30 Lakhs! This was not an easy feat by any stretch of the imagination since Chadha had to get past several experienced regs like Sanat ‘mehro2511’ Mehrotra (runner-up for ₹16 Lakhs), Sriharsha ‘ivey2’ Doddapaneni (3rd for ₹10 Lakhs), Rajat ‘happyfish Mahajan – (5th for ₹6 Lakhs) and Ankit ‘ankitmodi’ Modi (6th for ₹4 Lakhs).
Incidentally, Doddapaneni’s third-place finish in the AOPS Mini ME Finale brought him his second seven-figure score at the series in the last three days. On June 12, he finished runner-up in the AOPS Super High Roller for ₹12.26 Lakhs.
Over at the ₹45 Lakhs GTD AOPS Mega Stack, a total of 906 entries helped generate a profitable ₹45.30 Lakhs prize pool. It was an unknown player ‘mannu425’ who picked up a seven-figure score of ₹11.09 Lakhs after defeating Sagar ‘alwaysnutz’ Choudhury (runner-up for ₹6.07 Lakhs) heads-up.
The young poker star from Pune, Neel ‘neeljoshi23’ Joshi plowed his way through a 303 entry field, where he defeated Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma (2nd for ₹4.62 Lakhs) heads-up to win the ₹30 Lakhs GTD AOPS Holdem Heros for ₹7.75 Lakhs.
Joshi has been making quite a splash this year. The young star had most famously finished runner-up at India’s biggest online tournament to date, The EndBoss, for a life-changing ₹ 60 Lakhs.
Varma, on the other hand, supplemented his runner-up finish with another FT score, locking in ₹40,900 for finishing fourth in PokerBaazi’s ₹5 Lakhs GTD BSS Monster 6-Max.
There were some big names on the AOPS Holdem Heros final table like Young Gun Arsh ‘bigggtymer’ Grover (5th for ₹1.74 Lakhs), India poker champion Rubin ‘kornkif’ Labroo (6th for ₹1.21 Lakhs) and Deepak ‘bothras’ Bothra (7th for ₹90,900).
Anirban ‘ajgar5’ D Das, who had finished runner-up in PokerBaazi’s BSS Monster 6-Max for ₹85,920, FT-ed for a second time with an eighth-place finish worth ₹75,750.
Also joining the winner’s circle was Nitin ‘bigbluffs’ Arora, who topped a field of 523 entries to win the ₹10 Lakhs GTD AOPS Monster Turbo for ₹3.09 Lakhs. This is the second title victory for Arora in two days; on Saturday, he captured the AOPS Hexagram ₹8 Lakhs GTD for ₹2.52 Lakhs.
Kunal ‘cvc’ Sharma was another online reg who FT-ed two marquee tourneys last night. Apart from finishing eighth in the AOPS Monster Turbo for ₹23,797, Sharma also placed fifth in Spartan Poker’s ₹4.5 Lakhs GTD Reloaded for ₹28,980.
PokerStars India
Tournament action on PokerStars India was headlined by two ₹20 Lakhs guaranteed tourneys. The first of them was the ₹5,500 buy-in Sunday Special – Progressive KO. With 368 signups, the tourney registered an overlay of ₹1.60 Lakhs. Coming out on top to win the ₹3.85 Lakhs first-place cash prize was PokerGuru Ambassador Rohit ‘PillowFight22’ Mishra. While Mishra’s title win brings his tally of recorded online earnings to ₹2.56 Crores, runner-up Sagar ‘sagarpupull’ Choudhury banked ₹1.54 Lakhs for placing second. This was the second runner-up finish for Choudhury last night, after his impressive run in the Adda52-hosted AOPS Mega Stack.
Rishab Malikm who had placed seventh in PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack, also ran deep to pocket a third-place score worth ₹1.54 Lakhs.
The site’s overlay blues continued in the ₹11,000 buy-in Sunday Highroller ₹20 Lakhs GTD that gathered a 170-strong field (107 unique and 63 re-entries). Storming past a stacked final table was seasoned reg, Sahil ‘inaboobham’ Mahboobani. A player with over ₹4.32 Crores in recorded online winnings, Mahboobani eventually struck a heads-up deal with PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul ‘Haxton Jr’ Raj before clinching the title and the ₹3.58 Lakhs first-place cash prize.
Raj collected ₹3.45 Lakhs for finishing runner-up. Incidentally, this was the second major score of the night for Raj, who also FT-ed the UVS The Millionaire Lite with a fourth-place finish.
Vaibhav ‘GTO_LIFE_GG’ Sharma (3rd for ₹2.29 Lakhs), Armaan ‘armaan007111’ Kochhar (4th for ₹1.73 Lakhs), Kunal ‘iAlwaysHaveit’ Patni (5th for ₹1.31 Lakhs) and Avijit ‘SwangoRay’ Jaiswal (6th for ₹99,257) were others who FT-ed the Sunday High Roller.
Kochhar was another prominent reg who final tabled multiple tourneys last night. In addition to his fourth-place finish in the Sunday High Roller, he ran deep in Spartan Poker’s Ultimate PLO (4th for ₹20,600), and Sunday Monster Stack (9th for ₹10,080).
