The last Sunday of 2019 was a crackling one and crowned five new Millionaires! Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire X5 Edition (₹10 Lakhs GTD To Top 5) was the talk of the virtual felts. Commencing on December 27, the final Millionaire edition of the year registered a total of 1,875 entries through four starting flights, collecting a massive prize pool of ₹93.25 Lakhs. Only 200 runners advanced to Day 2, all of whom were slated to finish in the money. Kicking off at 9 PM sharp on Sunday, the tournament continued till 1.32 AM on Monday morning, playing down to the five winners. PokerGuru Ambassadors Ashish ‘Donkey07’ Munot, Mithun ‘Intuitionnn’ Mahesh, along with ‘piscean’, ‘Zenos’ and Sriharsha ‘Fish2050’ Doddapaneni, all took home ₹10 Lakhs each with the site having to pitch in ₹67,500 apiece to the top five.

Doddapaneni also picked up final table scores in PokerBaazi’s BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD (runner-up for ₹90,15) and 9stacks’ The Dragon ₹10 Lakhs GTD (9th for ₹33,000).

The fireworks continued on Spartan Poker with the Sunday SuperStack ₹40 Lakhs GTD that attracted 688 participants (315 unique, 143 re-entries, and 230 re-buys), resulting in an overlay of ₹5.60 Lakhs. Tournament regular Anirudh ‘flash’ Reddy joined the list of Sunday champions after besting Kolkata-born Raghav ‘thatssosick’ Bansal (runner-up for ₹4.88 Lakhs) heads-up to grab the ₹7.74 Lakhs first-place cash prize.

PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD was another event that failed to avoid the overlay curse and had to fill in a shortfall of ₹60,000. Kuldeep ‘Bacchapro’ Jorwal outlasted Haider ‘Haider’ Madraswala heads-up and walked away with a winner’s payday of ₹4.85 Lakhs. Madraswala pocketed ₹3.40 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.

Vikas ‘Vikas267’ Yadav championed Adda52’s signature Sunday tourney, Mega Suits ₹25 Lakhs GTD, for ₹6.12 Lakhs.

Meanwhile, Hitesh ‘hiteshbhai999’ Batra locked in ₹2.86 Lakhs for topping the Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹15 Lakhs GTD on PokerStars India, while Anuj ‘brockLesnar95’ Yadav banked ₹1.82 Lakhs for coming in second place. Batra also finished third in PokerStars India’s Sunday Special (L) ₹7.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹71,051.

There were a plethora of notable performances yesterday, and it would be challenging to list them all down. The last of Spartan Poker’s Millionaire editions for 2019 – The Millionaire X5 1 Million to Top 5 logged in 1,875 entries (Day 1A – 460, Day 1B – 346, Day 1C – 438 and Day 1D – 631) over four starting flights. Only 200 players (Day 1A – 47, Day 1B – 37, Day 1C – 51 and Day 1D – 65) made it to Day 2 and this list included 155 unique players. The event generated ₹93.25 Lakhs in prize money, and all the 200 players earned a payout, with many players who had carried multiple stacks forward, collecting more than one score.

The site has run two prior editions of the Millionaire X5, once on October 6 and the last one on November 24. With the top five finishers assured ₹10 Lakhs each, it was a hectic race to the top spot.

Since 10% of the prize pool was reserved for the top five finishers, an amount of ₹9,32,500 was locked in from the prize pool for each of them, and the site had to pitch in ₹3.37 Lakhs to make up the difference. In the end, PokerGuru Ambassadors Ashish ‘Donkey07’ Munot (1st) and Mithun ‘Intuitionnn’ Mahesh (2nd), ‘piscean’ (3rd), ‘Zenos’ (4th) and Sriharsha ‘Fish2050’ Doddapaneni (5th) took up the top five spots and pocketed a hefty paycheque of ₹10 Lakhs each.

The multi-flight event permitted players to carry multiple stacks forward, and many players benefitted by cashing more than once. The prominent names to pocket multiple scores were Mahesh, who, in addition to his top 5 finish, also placed 181st for ₹8,392. At the same time, Doddapaneni was another top 5 finisher who cashed again with a 186th place finish to earn an additional ₹8,392.

Incidentally, Purohit also posted a score at the Millionaire X5, where he finished 161st for ₹8,858.

For Basha, who scored a 105th place finish at the Millionaire for ₹9,791, finishing second translated into a ₹42,000 add-on to his bankroll.

The event had a slight shortfall of ₹2,000 in meeting its advertised guarantee and paid out the top nine places.
