The online action reached a feverish peak on Sunday with massive guaranteed flagships donning the domestic and international sites! With Spartan Poker’s IOPC, the Adda52 Poker Fest (APF), and PokerBaazi’s IMPS playing down to a close and the 2020 WSOP Online series running six bracelet events on GGPoker and Natural8, this was a Sunday unlike any other.
While many top pros and upcoming players were vying for the title in the Sunday marquees, India’s first solo WSOP gold bracelet winner Abhinay Iyer was chasing a second bracelet in Event #33: $1,111 Every 1 for COVID Relief (Caesar’s Cares). He came excruciatingly close but ultimately fell out in fourth place for $127,571.28 (~₹95.36 Lakhs). Here is a complete recap.
Spartan Poker
The biggest-ever India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) July Edition is finally in the books! The magnum opus of the series, the ₹3 Crores GTD IOPC Main Event –The Crown turned out to be a record-breaking success! Gathering 4,081 entries through eight starting flights, the IOPC Main Event posted the biggest-ever prize pool worth ₹4.08 Crores in the series’s history. The only event that has to-date surpassed this record was PokerBaazi’s End Boss ₹5 Crores GTD that had generated a ₹5.85 Crores prize pool on the back of 5,847 entries. 535 runners had advanced to Day 2, and only 495 of them finished in the money.
Kanpur-based entrepreneur Harshit’ HeroCaller’ Sanghi sky-rocketed to the top and decimated the competition to don the IOPC Main Event crown! The 24-year-old took home a personal-best, jaw-dropping ₹47.33 Lakhs, following a three-way deal with Kunal’ Alex52’ Bhatia (runner-up for ₹42.36 Lakhs) and Sumit’ Sands Myth’ Sapra (3rd for ₹32.20 Lakhs). Poker coach Prabhat Kiran ‘Cassandra’ Mukherjea (6th for ₹10.85 Lakhs) and Madan ‘madsysman’ Kumar (9th for ₹4.88 Lakhs) also featured on the final table.
With the IOPC Main Event attracting all the attention, some of the other events on the IOPC roster suffered overlays. The ₹60 Lakhs GTD IOPC Sunday SuperStack was one such event. Though 1,184 contenders did pony-up the ₹5,500 buy-in, it wasn’t enough to avoid the ₹80,000 overlay. ‘Rolling1’ emerged as the victor and walked away with a ₹11.30 Lakhs payout and ‘GoldSpot’ finished runner-up for ₹6.87 Lakhs. The champion also placed fourth in the IOPC#119 ₹6.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹46,735.
The latest Millionaire Legends champion Sriharsha’ Potato Player’ Doddapaneni was also seen gunning for the title, but sadly fell four places short of the Sunday SuperStack title, placing fifth for ₹2.88 Lakhs.
Sathish ‘Jaqkten’ Ananth championed the IOPC Big Daddy ₹15 Lakhs GTD for ₹2.18 Lakhs, after a three-way deal with Sujith ‘dancingshrimp’ Kumar (runner-up for ₹1.99 Lakhs) and ‘ConMan’ (3rd for ₹1.86 Lakhs).

Similar to the first Full House, the second edition, too, suffered an overlay. While the previous edition had an overlay of ₹3.35 Lakhs, this time, the tourney experienced a massive overlay of ₹11.95 Lakhs. The first-ever Indian Micro Poker Series (IMPS) also concluded yesterday with the ₹20 Lakhs GTD IMPS#121 Main Event crowning a champion in Chiraag ‘Versutus’ Patel! The Sunday Highroller ₹15 Lakhs GTD didn’t do as well as the Sunday Special. After clocking in 129 entries, the tourney experienced a shortfall of ₹2.1 Lakhs. Former Millionaire Lite winner Sreekanth ‘LaganaHiToHai’ Narayan took down the event for ₹3.28 Lakhs, just as ‘sunny9456’ came in second for ₹2.43 Lakhs. Narayan has been in top form over the past few weeks and shipped PokerBaazi’s
