This past Sunday turned out to be a blockbuster one for domestic poker players! With the who`s who from the Indian poker circuit jumping in on the action, it was undoubtedly one of the biggest Sundays in recent times.

Headlining the online action was the PokerBaazi Premier League Autumn’18 Edition that came to a close on Oct 21 with The MoneyMaker 7.0 playing out on India’s most trusted poker site, PokerBaazi. It was the biggest online attraction of the week that boasted of a massive ₹1 Crore guarantee. The massive 715-entry field, along with 642 re-entries, skyrocketed the prize pool to ₹1.35 Crores making this one of the largest online poker tournaments to be held in the country in recent times. Taking down this coveted event was Nikhil ‘stringbet710’ Sayilen (cover image), who won the title for ₹33.92 Lakhs. When asked about his victory, the 24-year-old Bengaluru lad said, “There are literally no words to express what I feel”.

Meanwhile, Ankit ‘akj290’ Jajodia cruised to the top in the Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) ₹20 Lakhs GTD SuperStack to earn a payday of ₹4.56 Lakhs. ‘Nbackdown’ took down the BSS PLO ₹5 Lakhs GTD on PokerBaazi for ₹1.40 lakhs, while Akash ‘akash_durr’ Gupta won the BSS MegaStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.38 Lakhs.

Sunday Special ₹15 Lakhs GTD on PokerStars India was shipped by ‘kumar570’ for ₹2.89 Lakhs and it was Anik ‘Incognito Nit!’ Ajmera who bested the 49-entry field in the Sunday Stars ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹48,682, even as ‘Radmod’ collected the winner’s cheque of ₹44,064 in the Sunday Storm ₹3 Lakhs GTD following a three-way deal. Meanwhile, the Sunday Warm Up ₹1 Lakhs GTD was won by ‘$00th$ayer’ who pocketed ₹21,848 for his efforts.

9stacks has been one of the frontrunners in encouraging Indians to attend and participate in international tournaments. Offering players an opportunity to participate in the Aussie Millions tournament series slated to be hosted in Melbourne, Australia, the site hosted a special tournament, the Aussie100 #1 ₹30 Lakhs GTD. As part of the contest, players can choose to play on the Aussie100 tables on the site, through the aforementioned dates and cross milestones to collect 50,000 points in order to win the Australia package. Alternately, they can also participate in the Aussie100 tournament on the site, to win the trip. In its first week, a total of 15 players who accumulated the required points, won the special 9stacks Aussie Millions package, each worth ₹2 Lakhs. Some of the notable players who were able to win all-expenses paid packages to the Aussie Millions are Harshil ‘UncleScrooge’ Dhingra, Sanjay ‘Werewolf’ Taneja, Phanindra ‘loading…’ Akkina and Manoj ‘Darknight’ Pentakota.

At MadOverPoker, Durga Deepak ‘pokerchess’ Botta (Dynamite for ₹48,000), ‘Lokimon’ (Grenade for ₹34,000), ‘nonveg’ (MadHouse for ₹17,000) and Ryan BinkSSS’ Cardoso (NightCrawler for ₹16,666) won the featured events on Sunday.

The MoneyMaker – 1 Crore GTD PokerBaazi

Entries – 715

Re-entries – 642

Prize Pool – ₹1,35,70,000

Places Paid – 72

PokerBaazi’s The Moneymaker 7.0 attracted a total of 1,357 entries (715 entries and 642 re-entries) and generated a prize pool of ₹1.35 Crores making it one of the biggest online domestic tournaments in Indian history. While this extravaganza featured some big names from the Indian poker community including Sahil ‘CairyHunt’ Agarwal (3rd for ₹13.29 Lakhs), Anup ‘Rmanasa’ Palod (5th for ₹6.78 Lakhs) and Nishant ‘nishant177’ Sharma (10th for ₹1.69 Lakhs), it was the youngster Nikhil ‘stringbet710’ Sayilen who stole the show and cruised to the top to bag the massive ₹33.92 Lakhs top prize.

The eventual champion described his experience at the event, “During the tourney my stack went down to 4,000 but I managed to build it back up. A crucial moment for me was when I pulled off a huge bluff at the mid-stages of the event, which saw me take over the chip lead. Another important spot for me was when I folded the second nuts in a three-way pot. I believe that these two hands were extremely vital in my win. I actually played only 3 events in the entire PPL Autumn Edition because I wanted to save up for The MoneyMaker – I guess that worked out!”
