A blockbuster Sunday bared witness to Adda52 crowning an AOPS Main Event champion in Nitish Gupta and saw Manish Lakhotia become Spartan Poker’s latest IOPC Millionaire United titleholder. The Sunday winner’s list glittered with illustrious names such as Alok Birewar, Anujkumar Kodam, Bharat Vasan, and Anant Purohit. Let’s take a look at what went down on Sunday!
Spartan Poker
The India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) July Edition that kicked-off on July 9 has enjoyed a guarantee-smashing run these last few days. Boasting of three Millionaire tourneys on its schedule, the first of the lot concluded last night. The ₹1.5 Crores GTD IOPC Millionaire United saw 2,154 entrants’ pony-up the ₹7,700 buy-in, helping the event breach its offered guarantee by ₹85,000.
Online reg Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia is a firecracker on the virtual felts. He came close to shipping his first Millionaire title in November last year, where he had placed fourth for ₹12.53 Lakhs. Finally, getting the monkey off his back, Lakhotia powered his way through a stacked field to capture the Millionaire title for a career-best ₹15.75 Lakhs. Lakhotia agreed to a four-way deal that saw Ramji ‘bluffpolice123’ Kishore G (runner-up for ₹15.53 Lakhs), ‘Rajnicant’ (3rd for ₹13.44 Lakhs) and Nishant ‘FunkyouFTW1’ Sharma (4th for ₹13.19 Lakhs) joining him on the podium. Lakhotia came close to completing a double by shipping the biggest tourney last night, Adda52’s AOPS Main Event. He eventually placed a respectable seventh for ₹6 Lakhs. He also final tabled PokerBaazi’s PMVS BSS Monster, finishing seventh for ₹21,105, taking him overall Sunday winnings close to ₹22 Lakhs.
The ₹50 Lakhs GTD IOPC Sunday Superstack wrangled in 1,125 entries, culminating in a guarantee-busting ₹56.25 Lakhs prize pool. Anonymous user ‘louis02’ took down the event for ₹10.62 Lakhs, while notable pro Sajal ‘GoMuckYourself’ Gupta finished runner-up for ₹6.47 Lakhs. This was Gupta’s first six-figure score in over two months.
The ₹12 Lakhs GTD IOPC Big Daddy attracted 720 contenders, resulting in a prize pool collection of ₹14.40 Lakhs. Suraj ‘soorajtodi’ Todi was the last player standing, and he netted a winner’s payday worth ₹2.78 Lakhs, after besting ‘Hellblazer’(runner-up for ₹1.75 Lakhs) heads-up.
‘moosewaala’ (IOPC ₹6.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.57 Lakhs), Eka ‘masterbluffs’ Vedantham (IOPC ₹6 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.41 Lakhs) and Pranav ‘pranavpoker’ Khandalkar (IOPC Monster Stack ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1 Lakh) were the other big winners on the site on Sunday.
Adda552
The Special Edition of the Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS) finally culminated last night. The star attraction of the series, the ₹3 Crore GTD AOPS Main Event, was a multi-flight event, similar to its predecessors. An interesting fact to note here is that the AOPS Main Event has to date never been able to surpass its posted guarantee. The inaugural AOPS Main Event shipped by Faiz ‘theinternetkid’ Alam and the following second edition championed by notable poker coach Sahil ‘Bhaijiii’ Agarwal had both been hit by the overlay express.
Last night’s AOPS Main Event was no different, and it too suffered a massive overlay. Taking advantage of the value on offer was former MoneyMaker champion Nitish ‘inveigle’ Gupta, who outlasted online regular Ashish ‘goodpoker68’ Garg (runner-up for ₹32 Lakhs) heads-up, before claiming a personal-best ₹50 Lakhs! This victory holds significance for us since Gupta happens to be our first Young Gun.
Other noteworthy final table finishers included the Goyal brothers, Tarun ‘aggtarun’ Goyal (4th for ₹16.30 Lakhs) and Pulkit ‘championplayer’ Goyal (9th for ₹3.25 Lakhs),along with Srihari ‘zombieballs’ Bang (6th for ₹9 Lakhs), Manish ‘newkidpoker’ Lakhotia (7th for ₹6 Lakhs), and Vishal ‘amarkhatri999’ Tulsyan (8th for ₹4.50 Lakhs).
Moving along, while the AOPS Main Event suffered an overlay, the ₹40 Lakhs GTD AOPS Mega Suits fared much better. With a ₹5,500 buy-in, the tourney dragged in 873 entries, which was enough to garner an impressive ₹43.65 Lakhs. Former Millionaire champion Anujkumar ‘thekinganuj’ Kodam was locked in an intense heads-up duel against Wilson ‘kaling’ Yomso. The duo agreed to a heads-up chop that saw Kodam clinch the title and top prize of ₹8.42 Lakhs, while Yomso took home ₹8.11 Lakhs for finishing runner-up.
The ₹10 Lakhs GTD AOPS Monster Turbo also performed well yesterday, generating a ₹12.05 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 530 participants. Bharat ‘rungooserun’ Vasan, who had shipped PokerBaazi’s PMVS#4 7-Max for ₹1.18 Lakhs on July 8, added another title to his tally by taking down the AOPS Monster Turbo for ₹3.13 Lakhs. ‘HaanMeinFlipHoon’ finished runner-up for ₹1.77 Lakhs.
The ₹5 Lakhs GTD AOPS Brunch crowned a champion in ‘JpunterJ,’ who overcame a field of 427 entries to win ₹1.24 Lakhs in prize money. Gautam ‘rabbithunter’ Kaul placed second for ₹75,000.
PokerBaazi
Like Adda52’s AOPS, the PokerBaazi Monthly Value Series (PMVS) also came to an end yesterday. The headliner of the series, the ₹50 Lakhs GTD PMVS Main Event SuperStack, gathered 991 entries, falling ₹45,000 short of meeting its advertised guarantee. Seasoned pro Alok ‘TheProfessional’ Birewar defeated Game Changer 2.0 champion Shagun ‘sogani22’ Jain in the heads-up finale to claim the title and top prize of ₹8.60 Lakhs. Jain received ₹6.03 Lakhs for his runner-up finish. Birewar has climbed up eight places to #9 on the monthly leaderboard with ₹18.84 Lakhs in monthly winnings.
Avneesh ‘iamam’ Munjal raced past 320 entries in the ₹8 Lakhs GTD PMVS BSS MegaStack and pocketed a winner’s paycheque worth ₹1.77 Lakhs, after outmaneuvering ‘Dsa545’ (runner-up for ₹1.24 Lakhs) heads-up.
Meanwhile, ‘dilbaghsingh’ took down the ₹5 Lakhs GTD PMVS BSS Monster for ₹1.27 Lakhs, and Ryan ‘AceFromSpace’ Cardoso placed second for ₹88,880.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s weekly flagship tournament, Sunday Special Progressive KO, had its guarantee slashed from ₹20 Lakhs to ₹15 Lakhs GTD. Despite the reduction, the event still fell short by ₹2.10 Lakhs from meeting its advertised guarantee, after logging in 358 entries. Mystery user ‘uv_007’ came out on top, banking ₹3.94 Lakhs in first-place prize money. PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved took home ₹2.31 Lakhs for his second-place finish.
The ₹15 Lakhs GTD Sunday Highroller surpassed its listed guarantee by ₹50,000, after registering 155 entries. MTT crusher Anant ‘Dr4gonW4rrior’ Purohit won the event for ₹3.13 Lakhs, and ‘ankitkaushal935’ came in second for ₹2.36 Lakhs.
The popular Micro Millions series have also commenced on PokerStars India and will run from July 12 to 19. Featuring 72 events, the series features ₹1.44 Crores in guaranteed prizes. The marquee event of the series yesterday was the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Micro Millions-02 Warm-up that saw Debneil ‘ChhotaD0N’ Mukherjee triumph over a field of 356 entries and pocket the ₹92,122 top prize, following a head-up deal with ‘xqwxqw’ (runner-up for ₹89,668).
