We’re officially past the first fortnight of December, and though the festival season is fast closing in, there seems to be no slowdown in the poker action!

The entire past week was, in fact, an action-packed affair with Spartan Poker leading the charge with its signature Spartan Super Series (SSS). The showstopper event – The Millionaire ₹1.5 Crores GTD – was the talk of the poker circuit all weekend. The event registered 1,346 entries (Day 1A – 432, Day 1B – 337 & Day 1C – 577) that led to a massive ₹15.40 Lakhs overlay and players had a field day, really. Sunday was when 170 of them (142 unique players) returned for Day 2 play, and three among them walked away with seven-figure scores! The biggest winner last night by some margin was Pulkit ‘Championplayer’ Goyal, who entered the history books as the latest Millionaire champion after defeating another online reg Vaibhav ‘Nikka Zaildar’ Sharma heads-up.

Goyal is a seasoned hand at Spartan Poker – last year in July, he had shipped the IOPC #43 ₹6 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.57 Lakhs. He had raked in his career-best live score in March when he finished fifth in the TIPS Main Event for ₹25 Lakhs. Yesterday night, Goyal faded all his past achievements by becoming the latest Millionaire champion and pocketing a jaw-dropping ₹26.95 Lakhs!

Sharma who banked ₹16.05 Lakhs for finishing runner-up and PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ Ahuja (3rd for ₹11.29 Lakhs) also became millionaires with their deep runs in Spartan Poker`s flagship tournament. Counting Sreekanth Narayan, who had won the Millionaire LITE earlier in the month, and the three Millionaires from the Legends edition last weekend, December has already seen seven players becoming Millionaires on Spartan Poker!

While The Millionaire kept the pulses racing, the SSS #40 Sunday SuperStack ₹40 Lakhs GTD was another high-octane tournament that played out on Sunday. With 789 entries (339 unique, 195 re-entries, and 255 rebuys), there was an overlay of ₹55,000 with ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ walking away with the top prize ₹7.67 Lakhs. The anonymous player deserves an applaud since he also took down the Ultimate PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹60,202 last night.

Adda52’s Mega Suits ₹25 Lakhs GTD was another major that brought in the crowds. With 549 entries (305 unique hopefuls and 244 re-entries), the event collected a whopping ₹27.45 Lakhs in the prize pool. Last week Rubin ‘kornkif’ Labroo had won this event. Labroo has been on a heater recently, finishing third in the APT Vietnam Monster Stack followed by a runner-up finish in the WPT Vietnam Kickoff in September. Here again, he rose to the top of the field to take down the Mega Suits title in consecutive weeks, adding ₹6.58 Lakhs to his bankroll.

Over at PokerBaazi, the site’s marquee Sunday tourney BSS SuperStack enjoyed another smashing run. The event mustered 540 entries (303 unique and 237 re-entries) to accrue an impressive ₹27 Lakhs in the prize pool and saw Rajat ‘happyfish’ Mahajan winning the title and the ₹5.24 Lakhs top prize.

Headlining the action at PokerStars India was the Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹15 Lakhs GTD where ‘GTO_LIFE_GG’ topped the 290-player field (155 unique and 135 re-entries). The player is a regular on the site and had on November 12 won the Six Sense NLHE 8 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.45 Lakhs. With the Sunday Special PKO title in his grasp, he pocketed ₹3.49 Lakhs.
