Happy Rakshabandhan to all loving brothers and sisters out there!
Despite a reduced number of big-ticket tournaments on offer yesterday, it was a blistering Sunday nevertheless! With Adda52 still facing technical issues, the other sites were able to capitalize with most flagships logging in better than usual turnouts!
Here is a recap of what went down on Sunday.
Spartan Poker
Leading the charge on Spartan Poker was the ₹50 Lakhs GTD Sunday SuperStack. The primetime tourney kicked off at 8 PM and ran till the early hours of Monday morning, eventually culminating at 6:01 AM. MTT crusher and former Millionaire champion Srihari ‘bangbang99’ Bang trounced a field of 1,027 participants and banked the lion’s share of the ₹51.35 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹8.33 Lakhs. He cut a heads-up deal with ‘sgpt,’ who received ₹7.34 Lakhs for their runner-up finish. PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘Donkey 07’ Munot rounded out the podium finished, placing third for ₹4.25 Lakhs.
Bang has been on fire for the majority of 2020. In July alone, he picked up a total of 11 final table finishes. His biggest score of the month came in Adda52’s ₹3 Crore GTD AOPS Main Event where he placed sixth for ₹9 Lakhs and PokerStars India’s ₹20 Lakhs GTD Micro Millions-68 Main Event which he won for ₹3.40 Lakhs. He is currently ranked #7 on the annual winnings leaderboard with ₹2.11 Crores in winnings. With ₹3.54 Crores in online earnings, Bang is steadily heading towards the ₹4 Crore-mark in lifetime winnings.
The latest addition to Spartan Poker’s Sunday schedule, the ₹15 Lakhs GTD Money Heist, had an eventful run last night. Clocking in 516 entries, the event collected a prize pool amounting to ₹15.48 Lakhs. Anonymous user ‘Magic suitcase’ took down the event for ₹3 Lakhs, after outlasting former Millionaire winner Saurabh ‘darksider’ Rohila in the heads-up finale. Rohila walked away with ₹1.90 Lakhs in second-place prize money.
PokerBaazi
The Sunday headliner on PokerBaazi was the ₹25 Lakhs GTD BSS SuperStack that sailed past its guarantee to collect a ₹27.65 Lakhs prize pool from 553 entrants. Avish ‘thehorse7’ Sharma came out on top and pocketed a ₹5.37 Lakhs winner’s paycheque, while ‘raghavnith’ finished runner-up for ₹3.77 Lakhs.
Sharma’s previous biggest score had come in 2018 when he had won PokerBaazi’s PPL#27 Main Event Warm Up ₹20 Lakhs GTD for ₹5.04 Lakhs. His latest win has surpassed his previous best score, taking his overall recorded online earnings to ₹55.99 Lakhs.
The BSS MegaStack ₹8 Lakhs GTD also fared well and was able to post a ₹8.90 Lakhs prize pool after registering 356 entries. Sandy ‘Ziigmund’ Lamba bested ‘Allrounder09’ (runner-up for ₹1.31 Lakhs) heads-up to claim the title. Lamba padded his bankroll by ₹1.87 Lakhs and is presently sitting with ₹1.37 Crores in lifetime winnings.
Continuing with the guarantee-smashing trend, the ₹5 Lakhs GTD BSS Monster 6-Max crossed its listed guarantee by ₹65,000, with the help of 226 contenders who ponied up the ₹2,750 buy-in. Well-known reg Anirban ‘pottysingh’ D Das came out on top to win ₹1.33 Lakhs, just as Aayush ‘Goyal0279’ Goyal came in second for ₹93,280.
PokerStars India
Despite a trimmed-down lineup of events across the major platforms on Sunday night, PokerStars India still failed to capitalize on the situation as it`s biggest-guarantee event, the ₹50 Lakhs GTD The Hercules, fell ₹4.15 Lakhs short of meeting its advertised guarantee. Making use of the value on offer, PokerGuru Ambassador Ratul ‘MuscariAs’ Steves, who had been going through a dry spell lately, championed the event and took home a whopping ₹8.67 Lakhs. ‘yash1805’ finished second for ₹6.29 Lakhs. Abhishek ‘Satan98999’ Gubba secured the third spot for ₹4.56 Lakhs.
Though Steves had posted four final table finishes in July, his last title win had come over two months ago on May 24 when he had shipped Spartan Poker’s Sunday SuperStack ₹35 Lakhs GTD for ₹7.76 Lakhs. However, his career-best score to date had come in last year’s ₹1 Crores GTD Value Bomb hosted on PokerBaazi, that Steves had won for a whopping ₹16.20 Lakhs! With his latest win, his recorded online winnings have reached ₹2.33 Crores.
Joining Steves on the winner’s podium was fellow stablemate Rony ‘GoGetters1’ Chowdhury. He raced past a 379-strong entry field in PokerStars India’s ₹18 Lakhs GTD Sunday Special – Progressive KO and captured the top honors that included a ₹3.50 Lakhs payday! Like Steves, Chowdhury is also inching towards the ₹3 Crore-mark in recorded online winnings. Currently, he sits with ₹2.44 Crores under his belt. Unlike The Hercules, the Sunday Special was able to breach its offered guarantee, posting a ₹18.95 Lakhs prize pool that was distributed among the top 63 runners.
The Sunday Highroller ₹15 Lakhs GTD generated a commendable ₹16.10 Lakhs prize pool through 161 entries. Former WPT Vietnam Main Event champion Dhaval ‘BithBecool’ Mudgal defeated seasoned pro Goonjan ‘gmtesting.ind’ Mall (runner-up for ₹2.45 Lakhs) heads-up to bag a top prize worth ₹3.25 Lakhs.
Pocket52
India’s first cryptographically secured Random Number Generator (RNG) online poker site, Pocket52, launched its biggest-ever ‘Blue’ Series on August 1. The month-long series boasts over ₹4.5 Crores in guaranteed prizes, and two of the flagship events that played out last night were the ₹15 Lakhs GTD Pocket Aces and the ₹5 Lakhs GTD The Bracelet. Both events suffered overlays, with the Pocket Aces falling short by ₹3.80 Lakhs and The Bracelet experiencing a deficit of ₹96,000.
Himanshu ‘hdwivedi3’ Dwivedi topped a 280-entry field in the Pocket Aces to claim a ₹3.23 Lakhs payout.
Mystery user ‘kd69’ obliterated a field of 203 entries in The Bracelet netting a winner’s paycheque of ₹1.13 Lakhs.
