Sunday was teeming with action on the virtual felts! From the GPS Millionaire on Spartan Poker to Adda52’s Full House, PokerBaazi’s PMVS SuperStack, and PokerStars India’s Sunday Highroller, there was a plethora of big-ticket tourney on offer yesterday. If you missed the action, let us tell you what went down last night!
Spartan Poker
The inaugural Grand Poker Series (GPS) came to an end yesterday. The crowning jewel of the series, GPS The Millionaire ₹1 Crore GTD, played out amid a field of 954 entries (454 unique, 220 re-entries and 280 re-buys), and the site had to fill in a shortfall of ₹4.60 Lakhs. Site regular ‘lazylad’, who had previously finished runner-up to Mahima Walia ‘mambojojo’ Das in the inaugural Millionaire United, more than made up for his close finish by taking down the first-ever GPS Millionaire title for a whopping ₹19.08 Lakhs. Arjun ‘lol this guy’ Pasricha had championed the second edition of the Millionaire United on May 17 and finished runner-up in the IOPC Super High Roller in February. He finished runner-up in the GPS Millionaire for ₹11.78 Lakhs yesterday.
The Sunday staple event on Spartan Poker, the GPS Sunday SuperStack ran with a ₹40 Lakhs prize pool GTD. The tourney registered 824 entries (408 unique, 159 re-entries and 257 re-buys), falling slightly short of last week’s 891 entries. Nevertheless, the event still comfortably surpasses its advertised guarantee and locked in ₹41.20 Lakhs in the prize pool. Anish ‘anishsuri’ Suri powered his way through a fiercely competitive final table to win the title for ₹7.90 Lakhs, while ‘d@enareys’ came in second for ₹4.96 Lakhs.Suri also final tabled the Ultimate PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD, placing seventh for ₹11,466.
Spartan Poker’s GPS Big Daddy ₹10 Lakhs GTD also suffered an overlay of ₹12,000, after pulling in 494 participants (261 unique, 81 re-entries and 152 re-buys). Mystery user ‘whodahellru1’ came out on top and bested Pranav ‘mithrandir16’ Anand (runner-up for ₹1.42 Lakhs) heads-up, banking a top prize worth ₹1.76 Lakhs.
The GPS Reloaded ₹5 Lakhs GTD was won by online reg ‘MansaMusa’ who triumphed over a field of 487 entries (263 unique, 52 re-entries and 172 rebuys) and bagged a winner’s payday of ₹80,345. The event had a shortfall of ₹13,000.
The Destiny Jr Finale 2.0 SnG also took place last night, and Arun ‘Rohini Sharma’ Karthik outlasted PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek ‘KasolHeights’ Singh to claim ₹90,000 in first-place prize money. Singh received ₹60,000 for placing second.Singh’s second final table score of the night came in Adda52’s Millions ₹25 Lakhs GTD where he finished seventh for ₹84,900.
With the GPS now in the rear-view mirror, the action will quickly shift to the Ultimate Value Series (UVS) that kicks off today. Comprising of 45 events, the series promises ₹1 Crore plus in guaranteed prizes. The star attraction of the series will undoubtedly be the UVS – The Millionaire Lite ₹35 Lakhs GTD that will take place on June 14.
Adda52
While Spartan Poker had the GPS Millionaire, Adda52 hosted its Sunday favorite Full House ₹1 Crore GTD that drew in 1,745 runners (Day 1A – 306, Day 1B – 170, Day 1C – 273, Day 1D – 310, and Day 1E – 686) across five starting flights, resulting in a sizable overlay of ₹12.75 Lakhs. Capturing the title was online phenom Sanat ‘mehro2511’ Mehrotra after he defeated ‘sanjays114‘ (runner-up for ₹13.30 Lakhs) in the heads-up finale. Mehrotra added a hefty sum of ₹25 Lakhs to his ever-expanding bankroll.
But that wasn’t all as Mehrotra continued his stellar form in the Adda52 Millions ₹25 Lakhs GTD. Though he placed fifth for ₹1.62 Lakhs, the back-to-back deep runs have now taken his lifetime online winnings to ₹1.76 Crores.
