It was an action-packed Sunday almost entirely dominated by the ₹2 Crores GTD Game Changer 3.0 on PokerBaazi. Running parallel to the mega tournament was Spartan Poker’s Sunday SuperStack, Adda52’s Mega Suits, and PokerStars India’s Sunday Special Progressive KO. Without further ado, let us give you a rundown of all that happened yesterday!
PokerBaazi
After five-long days of anticipation, we finally have the Game Changer 3.0 champion, Siddhanth ‘ender’ Kripalani! The tourney that offered a ₹2 Crores guarantee, ultimately gathered a ginormous 4,486 entries across four starting flights that helped generate a colossal ₹2.24 Crores in the prize pool. Despite crossing its advertised guarantee, the event fell 310 entries short of its predecessor, Game Changer 2.0, that had registered 4,796 entries, collecting a ₹2.63 Crores prize pool. Shagun ‘sogani22’ Jain had been crowned the champion and banked a whopping ₹40.78 Lakhs in top prize!
Kripalani, a former PMVS Main Event winner, holds the distinction of being the first player ever to win consecutive Destiny titles on Spartan Poker on April 1 and April 9. Kripalani powered his way through a star-studded final table that comprised of accomplished players like Rajesh Kumar ‘intervntion’ Shukla (5th for ₹7.87 Lakhs), Haider ‘Haider’ Madaswala (7th for ₹4.84 Lakhs), Nitin ‘philhermouth’ Arora (8th for ₹3.88 Lakhs), Dhaval ‘dhavhe’ Heda (9th for ₹3.03 Lakhs). He battled against rising star Shardul ‘duuurrrr’ Parthasarathi heads-up, before claiming the title and a personal-best₹40.02 Lakhs. Parthasarathi took home ₹26.49 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
With this win, Kripalani presently has ₹1.27 Crores in recorded online winnings. Parthasarathi, an up-and-coming name in the domestic circuit, was placed #43 on the yearly winnings leaderboard. He has climbed up to the #26 spot with ₹1.22 Crores in winnings this year (so far).
The other marquee Sunday tourney to run on PokerBaazi was the 25 Lakhs GTD BSS SuperStack. With a buy-in of ₹5,500, the event pulled in 674 contenders, collecting ₹33.70 Lakhs in the prize pool. In was online reg Ayan ‘interalia_1’ Ray, who came out on top after besting Rahul ‘YOUAGAIN’ Pruthi (runner-up for ₹4.36 Lakhs) heads-up. Ray received ₹6.22 Lakhs in first-place prize money.
PokerBaazi’s ₹8 Lakhs GTD BSS MegaStack logged in 375 entries, creating a prize pool of ₹9.38 Lakhs. Kuldeep ‘Bacchapro’ Jorwal outlasted Bharat ‘Thinkfloyd’ Vasan in the heads-up and walked away with ₹1.97 Lakhs in prize money. Vasan bagged ₹1.38 Lakhs for finishing second.
Spartan Poker
While PokerBaazi’s Game Changer 3.0 did steal much of the attention, Spartan Poker’s Sunday flagship, SuperStack, also attracted the big crowds, culminating in an 804-strong entry field. The proposed ₹35 Lakhs guarantee was obliterated, and by the time the late registration was closed, the prize pool had reached ₹40.20 Lakhs. ‘RoyalBlush’championed the event for ₹7.71 Lakhs, while ‘skypo’ came in second for ₹4.84 Lakhs.
The Destiny Jr 3.0 SnG Finale was hosted on Spartan Poker last night with all the nine winners from previous Destiny Junior tourneys sitting down to play for ₹1.5 Lakhs in prize money. It was PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ Ahuja, who shipped the event for the ₹90,000 up top. ‘Hondrick’ finished runner-up for ₹60,000.
Adda52
The ₹50 Lakhs GTD Mega Suits on Adda52 wrangled in 1,050 entries across three starting flight, generating a guarantee-smashing ₹52.50 Lakhs prize pool. Abhijith ‘Luckypunter’ Cheruku tussled with the DPT Xpress ₹15K Main Event champion Deepak ‘orionn7’ Raina for the top honors. In the end, Cheruku clinched the title and the top prize of ₹10 Lakhs. Raina had to contend with a runner-up payout of ₹7.13 Lakhs.
One of the costliest events of last night was the ₹11,000 buy-in, Adda52 Millions, featuring a ₹25 Lakhs guarantee. Garnering 285 participants, the event comfortably sailed past its listed guarantee, collecting ₹28.50 Lakhs in prize money. Avinash ‘avinkon’ Koneru trounced the field and netted ₹7.29 Lakhs up top. Former Young Gun Sahil ‘bluffme19’ Chuttani placed second for ₹4.34 Lakhs.
The Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS) was marred with technical issues, and the site had to postpone the last five days of the series. It has since resorted to hosting its regularly scheduled events. Another one of these regular tourneys was the ₹15 Lakhs GTD Big Slick that locked in 721 runners, drawing in a ₹16.22 Lakhs prize pool. ‘bhavilchopra’ topped the field for ₹2.63 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with ‘poking’ (runner-up for ₹2.37 Lakhs).
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s ₹20 Lakhs GTD Sunday Special Progressive KO was among the few marquee events that suffered an overlay. The site fell sort by just entry, amounting to a deficit of just ₹5,000, on the back of 399 entries. Anonymous user ‘yash1805’ took down the event for ₹3.86 Lakhs, after agreeing to a three-way deal with ‘041195’ (runner-up for ₹1.78 Lakhs) and Pavan ‘Pavankiranb’ Kiran B (3rd for ₹1.61 Lakhs).
The Sunday Highroller had its guarantee reduced from ₹20 Lakhs to ₹15 Lakhs. This decision spared PokerStars India an overlay outage as the tourney clocked in a ₹16.20 Lakhs prize pool through 162 entries. Former Millionaire Lite champion Chirag ‘WhyworrY_56’ Sodha won the event for ₹3.05 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with Abhishek ‘Satan98999’ Gubba, who finished runner-up for ₹2.68 Lakhs.
Now, Sodha is one name that needs no introduction! Sitting at #13 on the yearly leaderboard with more than ₹1.52 Crores in winnings, Sodha jumped up to #12 after taking down the Sunday High Roller last night. This happens to be his third time winning this tourney; he had won the Sunday Highroller on consecutive weeks during the INSCOOP series in May!
