The penultimate Sunday of 2020 was full to the brim with electrifying action! Immediately after Spartan Poker’s inaugural The Millionaire Series wrapped up, the online poker portal brought back its Sunday Millionaire offerings. Seasoned pro Sriharsha Doddapaneni etched his name in annals of poker history by becoming only the fifth player to claim two Millionaire titles! He shipped the ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire last night for a mouth-watering ₹18.76 Lakhs. Having carried multiple stacks to Day 2, Doddapaneni posted two more ITM runs in the event, collecting ₹19.16 Lakhs in total! Ashish Kaushik may have narrowly missed bagging his first-ever Millionaire title, but he still managed to walk away with a second-place payout worth a whopping ₹10.25 Lakhs.

Young Gun Arsh Grover, who has presently cemented his #2 spot on the annual leaderboard, picked up back-to-back titles in the ₹25 Lakhs GTD Adda52 Millions and PokerStars India’s ₹15 Lakhs GTD Sunday Highroller respectively, for a cumulative Sunday score of ₹10.04 Lakhs.

Former IOPC Millionaire Main Event champion Anurag Srivastava and PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja captured the other Sunday flagship titles.

Here are the highlights for Sunday’s events!

Spartan Poker

Grabbing the most eyeballs on Sunday was Day 2 of Spartan Poker’s ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire. The ₹5,500 entry buy-in tourney garnered 2,272 entries across five starting flights, creating a massive ₹1.13 Crores prize pool. Sriharsha ‘Potato Player’ Doddapaneni became the second player in December to become a two-time Millionaire champion after Manish Lakhotia. The latter had won his second Millionaire title in ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire Warm-up! Doddapaneni is now the fifth player to achieve this feat.

Following nearly seven hours of grueling play, Doddapaneni outlasted Ashish ‘intrcptr101’ Kaushik in the final showdown. The latter took home ₹10.25 Lakhs for their runner-up finish.

Doddapaneni had carried multiple stacks to Day 2 and posted another two ITM finishes – 40th for ₹30,104, and 241st for ₹9,656 – earning a collective ₹19.16 Lakhs in the event.

Doddapaneni had won his first Millionaire title in the ₹1.5 Crores GTD IOPC Millionaire Legends on July 19 for a personal-best ₹38.75 Lakhs. The 2019 WPT India ₹25K Big Bounty winner now has over ₹3.66 Crores in online earnings.

The Millionaire FT was stacked with known names like Aryan ‘bob_marley’ Kumar (3rd for ₹7.05 Lakhs), Banmanlang ‘bml2012’ Lyndem (4th for ₹5.11 Lakhs), former Millionaire winner ‘McFly’ (6th for ₹3.46 Lakhs), Rajat ‘raso009’ Sood (7th for ₹2.64 Lakhs) and former SVS The Millionaire Lite champion Manmeet ‘fishlover’ Oberai (8th for ₹1.87 Lakhs).

Running alongside The Millionaire was the ₹35 Lakhs GTD Sunday Superstack. The Sunday mainstay tourney logged in 668 entries, missing the advertised guarantee by ₹1.60 Lakhs. Kunal ‘kvohra’ Vohra decimated the field to capture the top prize of ₹5.53 Lakhs, after striking a heads-up deal with Aniket ‘UltraInstinct’ Marathe (runner-up for ₹5.50 Lakhs). With this win, Vohra has accumulated ₹51.95 Lakhs in recorded winnings on Spartan Poker.

The other Sunday flagship, the ₹8 Lakhs GTD Money Heist, was taken down by Kunal ‘Pokachu’ Shalin for ₹1.46 Lakhs, following a three-way deal with Abhijeet ‘knot_snudtke’ Kumar (runner-up for ₹1.26 Lakhs) and ‘Junior-KK’ (3rd for ₹1.23 Lakhs). The event locked in 259 entries and registered a shortfall of ₹23,000.

PokerStars India

As is the usual fare on PokerStars India every Sunday, two ₹15 Lakhs GTD events played out on the platform, namely the Sunday Special – Progressive KO and Sunday Highroller. The Sunday Special PKO was the first of the two to start and clocked in 288 entries, ending up with a deficit of ₹60,000. Site regular ‘muttonmm’ shipped the event for ₹2.70 Lakhs, after besting PokerGuru Ambassador Devvrat ‘bhasm@sur1’ Arya (runner-up for ₹1.96 Lakhs) in heads-up play.

The Sunday Highroller pulled in 138 runners and experienced an overlay of ₹1.20 Lakhs. Young Gun Arsh ‘BiggggTymeR’ Grover championed the event for ₹2.92 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with ‘GudThimma’ (runner-up for ₹2.55 Lakhs).

Topping the 119-entry field was anonymous user ‘wolfbacki45,’ who bagged the lion’s share of the ₹1.19 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹25,999.

Adda52

The crème de la crème of Adda52’s Nano Poker Series (NPS), the ₹35 Lakhs GTD Nano Main Event, culminated yesterday, along with the series. The ₹1,750 entry buy-in tourney had been underway since December 14. It ran eight starting flights to register a player pool of 2,220 entries, generating a guarantee-busting ₹35.32 Lakhs. The Main Event Finale began at 10 PM on Sunday, with 269 participants returning to the fray. Play continued till 4:54 AM before the former IOPC Millionaire Main Event champion Anurag ‘NormanBates’ Srivastava came out on top to win ₹5.44 Lakhs. Akash ‘playboyarya’ Singla finished runner-up for ₹3.91 Lakhs.

Srivastava had dominated the annual rankings from February to May before being overtaken by Young Gun Gaurav Sood. Srivastava is ranked #12 in the yearly leaderboard with almost ₹2.70 Crores in annual earnings and ₹4.60 Crores in lifetime winnings.

The ₹25 Lakhs GTD Adda52 Millions posted a ₹27.40 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 274 entrants. Young Gun Arsh ‘bigggtymer’ Grover added ₹7.12 Lakhs to his bankroll by shipping this event, just as APL Ambassador Sumit ‘hammer_head’ Sapra pocketed ₹4.24 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.

Grover has further cemented his place at the #2 spot on the annual leaderboard with ₹3.97+ Crores in yearly winnings. However, the battle for the #3 spot is getting very intense between Sapra and PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja.

The ₹18 Lakhs GTD Nano Highroller could not generate the kind of interest the Nano Main Event and Adda52 Millions received. With a turnout of 696 entries, the site had to fill in an overlay of ₹60,000. Surbhit ‘grovahova’ Grover was the last player standing in the tourney and won ₹4.50 Lakhs. Devrat ‘vickypune’ Singh placed second for ₹2.61 Lakhs. Grover has ₹55.43 Lakhs in overall MTT earnings, of which ₹19.22 Lakhs he has won on Adda52.

PokerBaazi

Headlining the Sunday action on PokerBaazi was the ₹25 Lakhs GTD BSS SuperStack that wrangled in 459 entries, resulting in a glaring ₹2.05 Lakhs overlay shortfall. It took PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘rocky3705’ Ahuja a little over eight and a half hours of play to pick up his third flagship title of December and win ₹5.03 Lakhs in prize money. The lawyer-turned-poker pro bested Rahul ‘pokerjoker’ Mittal (runner-up for ₹3.52 Lakhs) heads-up to take his lifetime online winnings to ₹6.35 Crores.

The first of the two ₹5 Lakhs GTD events starting on PokerBaazi yesterday was the BSS Monster 6-Max.
