Jagdeep Singh Among Top 10 Stacks After Day 1B of The Big Wrap PLO, Gaurav Gala & Manish Goenka Also Make Day 2

The Big Wrap PLO event of The Big Wrap PLO series kicked off alongside the final table of the €550 Warmup PLO event on April 5. A total field of 448 entries (Day 1A – 197 and Day 1B – 251) was recorded at the event, and the trio of Indians who had featured in the series opener was once again seen in action at this event at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.

Jagdeep Singh, who was the only Indian present at the series to miss out on scoring in the opening event, bagged the seventh-largest stack of 568,000 on Day 1B, which happens to be the tenth-largest stack coming into Day 2 today. Meanwhile, Gaurav Gala and Manish Goenka who had both scored €1,326 (₹1.03 Lakhs) for finishing 42nd and 44th respectively in the Warmup event, also managed to advance to Day 2 with above-average stacks. Gala bagged 208,000 and Goenka accumulated 100,000 in chips by the end of the day’s play.

Robert William James Cowen, who had finished 18th (€2,681) in the opening event, bagged a massive stack of 1,057,000 and not only took over the chip lead on Day 1B but is also the overall chip leader coming into Day 2 play.


Day 1B Recap

A total of 251 entries (197 unique and 54 re-entries) were registered on the second and final starting flight of The Big Wrap PLO event. The total attendance for the event presently stands at 448 entries (Day 1A – 197 and Day 1B – 251)

Out of the 95 runners who survived the day were the three Indian pros – Jagdeep Singh, Gaurav Gala, and Manish Goenka.

Jagdeep Singh, one of the country’s most renowned Pot-Limit Omaha players, has been in excellent form of late and was the top scorer with €14,000 (₹10.99 Lakhs) in winnings among the Indian squadron at The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) Winter Edition last month. He followed it up with a seventh-place finish in the WPT Barcelona €1,100 PLO event where he banked €5,800 (₹4.49 Lakhs). The PLO expert is once again on a deep run with 568,000 in chips, which also happens to be the 10th largest stack coming into Day 2 of The Big Wrap PLO event.

Captain of Team India at the International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP) Nation’s Cup, Gaurav Gala, is another well-known player present at the series. On the heels of his 42nd place finish (₹1.03 Lakhs) in the recently concluded €550 Warmup PLO event, he jumped right into The Big Wrap PLO event where he made his way to Day 2 with an above-average stack of 208,000.

Co-founder of TIPS, Manish Goenka, who also scored in the Warmup PLO event, finishing 44th for the same €1,326 (₹1.03 Lakhs), joined Singh and Gala at this event. He will be carrying a bag of 100,000 to Day 2.

Welsh pro – Robert William James Cowen bagged a humongous stack of 1,057,000 and emerged as the Day 1B chip leader. He is the only player from among both the starting flights above the 1 Million-mark in chips.

Czech Republic’s Petr Svoboda (723,000) and Fabian Riebau-Schmithals (697,000) are a distant second and third in chips.

Robert William James Cowen (1,057,000) emerged as the overall chip leader and will lead the 170 survivors (Day 1A – 75 and Day 1B – 95) to Day 2, while Jagdeep Singh (568,000) cracked the top 10 chip counts with the tenth-biggest stack.
