TIPS 2020: Dawer & Verma Advance From Day 1B of the SPF Main Event; Samant, Bansode & Jain Make Day 2 in SHR

It was an action-packed day at The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) Season 3 on February 6, with three marquee events running alongside each other. The two-day-long SPF High Roller Day finally crowned a champion in ‘CUACK’ who outlasted the 152-strong entry field to walk away with a €16,347 payday.

Four Indian players had progressed to Day 2 of the SPF High Roller. However, all of them fell out before the money bubble. Nevertheless, Team India had much better showings in the SPF Main Event and the TIPS Super High Roller.

Jaydeep Dawer (197,000) and Pratik Verma (74,000) survived the Day 1B onslaught of the Main Event, while Kanishka Samant (480,000), Allen Arun Bansode (427,000) and Nitin Jain (82,000) managed to bag a stack for Day 2 in the TIPS Super High Roller (SHR).

Meanwhile, Agustin Moralo Minguez (627,000) bagged the chip lead on Day 1B of the Main Event, while Denys Kaplin (856,000) emerged as the overnight chip leader in the TIPS SHR.

 

SPF High Roller – Day 2

A total of 72 runners made the cut for Day 2 from a starting field of 116 entries. With late registration open till the third level on Day 2, the final number of entries stood at 152 entries (131 unique and 21 re-entries), creating a prize pool of €64 980.

Among the survivors was a group of four Indians, namely Kanishka Samant (162,500), Avneesh Munjal (151,000), Jaydeep Dawer (101,000), and Himanshu Dewan (72,000). Sadly, none of the four contenders was able to cross the money line.

TIPS co-founder Jaydeep Dawer was the first Indian to hit the rail as he was eliminated early at the start of Day 2.

Himanshu Dewan was eliminated on a bad beat as his were cracked by a rival’s that improved to a ten-high straight on the runout .

With only the top 17 places assured payouts, Kanishka Samant busted out in 36th place, while Avneesh Munjal was dismissed in 34th place.

Luis Angel Arroyo Martinez was the first player to finish in the money as he placed 17th for €1,020.

Following eight more eliminations, which included Maciej Ludwik Kondraszuk‘s 10th place exit for €1,332, the nine-handed final table was formed.

Start of Day 1 chip leader ‘CUACK,’ eventually came out on top to win €16,347.

SPF Main Event – Day 1B

The second starting flight of the SPF Main Event, Day 1B, logged in 193 entries (164 unique and .29 re-entries). At the end of the play, the field was whittled down to 37 runners.

Unlike Day 1A, many Indians were seen in action at the second starting flight, which included Jaydeep Dawer, Avneesh Munjal, Himanshu Dewan, and Pratik Verma. Dawer and Verma were the only two challengers to carry their stacks of 197,000 and 74,000, respectively, to Day 2.

Agustin Moralo Minguez secured the biggest stack of 627,000 at the end of Day 1B, while Inigo Mediavilla Rodriguez (533,000) and Philippe Jibeili Acosta (511,000) rounded out the top three stacks.

TIPS Super High Roller – Day 1

Day 1 of the TIPS Super High Roller kicked off on February 6 and gathered 59 entries (55 unique and 4 re-entries). Only 36 players advanced to Day 2.

Representing Team India was the trio of Kanishka Samant, Allen Arun Bansode, and Nitin Jain. All three made it through to Day 2, with Samant leading the charge as he bagged the eighth largest stack overall of 480,000. Bansode is hot on his heels, with 427,000 in chips. Jain managed to bag a below-average stack of 82,000.

Ukraine’s Denys Kaplin captured the overnight chip lead with a massive 856,000 in chips.
