This past week in Poker has been particularly special with some big announcements grabbing headlines. Phil Galfond, widely considered one of the best cash game players in the world added another feather to his cap by surpassing $10 million in winnings on Full Tilt Poker. The online poker community in the USA finally got some reprieve after the black Friday shut down with Ultimate Poker returning with real money games in Nevada. The other big news had PokerStars announcing GuangDong Asia Millions, which is expected to be the biggest poker tournament outside the WSOP and the largest ever (in number of players) high-roller event.

Here are the week’s top stories

Phil Galfond Joins the $10 Million Club on Full Tilt Poker

Phil Galfond has recently added yet another title to his list of achievements by becoming just the third player to surpass $10 million in winnings on Full Tilt Poker, after Phil Ivey and Patrick Antonius.

The high stakes action this week saw some of the top pros clashing across various games, where finally Galfond came out as the biggest winner taking home a profit of $632,133 ballooning his winnings on FTP over the landmark figure of $10 million.

Ultimate Poker Launches Real Money Online Poker in Nevada

The poker players in the United States now have a reason to rejoice as their online gaming experience is all set to get back on track with the Nevada based Ultimate Poker launching the first legal, regulated real money online poker room. While this reality is still sinking in the minds of many, the site is up and running for those who are prepared and wish to create an account.

“We are proud to be the first company to deliver legal and secure real money online gaming to poker players,” said Ultimate Poker Chairman Tom Breitling in a press release.

Anyone of age 21 and above can sign up on the site, but they have to be in Nevada to play. It can be of advantage to those planning to attend the WSOP as they can create an account and deposit in advance.

PokerStars Announces GuangDong Asia Million

PokerStars and the Guangdong Group (Macau) Ltd recently announced the ‘GuangDong Ltd Asia Millions’ (GDAM) tournament, and tipped it to be the biggest poker tournament ever held outside of the World Series of Poker in terms of prize pool, and the largest ever high-roller event by number of players.

The GDAM tournament will run from June 4-7 and will take place in Macau at the ‘PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams’ poker room. It will feature a Main Event from June 5-7 with a buy-in of HKD $1,000,000 (USD $130,000) with two HKD $1,000,000 rebuys allowed.
