In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly roundup of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week`s top stories

It was a week choc-a-bloc with several developments, news reports and tournaments both domestically and internationally. The spotlight this week will be on the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) that kicks-off in Goa today, and is slated to run till April 24 with INR 2.25 crores in guaranteed prizes. The last edition concluded in February crowned five winners including Jasven Saigal (10K Kick off), Manoj Pentakota (60K High Roller), Imran Khan (35K Main Event), Banman Warr (15K Bounty) & Jagdeep Singh (15K 6-Max PLO).

The virtual felts were brimming with action and taking our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title is Armaan ‘armaan007’ Kochhar from five scores worth over $15K!

We have lots more in store with news about things getting worse for Goa residents who maybe barred from Casino`s and Delta Corp share prices dropping sharply. There was some positive news too with IPA announcing the opening of three poker clubs in Ahmedabad along with the first legal poker club in Delhi.

World’s biggest poker company PokerStars once again features prominently in our column as it announced an invitation-only rake free series, a new collaboration with WPT and launched a new Jackpot Poker app on Steam.

Black Friday continued making news and in the recent development, the US Department of Justice ordered Absolute Poker to compensate players who were unable to withdraw their balance earlier.

Tournament reports include noted pro Ari Engel winning his second title this month after taking down the MSPT Potawatomi Main Event. Live action was also registered with the conclusion of HPT St. Charles Main Event, which was won by amateur player Tom Morse.

Armaan ‘armaan007’ Kochhar tops the charts this week by making a cumulative score of more than $15K from five events! Kochhar won $6,937.81 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘Bounty Builder $109, $100K GTD’ and shipped the PokerStars ‘Big $162, $12K GTD’ for $4,227.72. He made $1,132.90 for 3rd place in the PokerStars ‘$27 NLHE [6-Max, Hyper-Turbo], $10K GTD’ and $1,436.41 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘$33 NLHE [6-Max, Hyper-Turbo], $8K GTD’. The final score of the week for Kochhar was $1,482.27 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘$82 NLHE [6-Max, Turbo, Progressive KO], $12K GTD’ and for this he takes our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title.

Sumit ‘boronyx’ Sapra won $5,887.08 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘Hot $22, $35K GTD’

Sriharsha ‘indiandurr’ Doddapaneni won $3,709.36 for 2nd place in the BlackChip ‘Manic Monday – $20,000 GTD’

Kunal ‘kcdesi’ Chandra won $3,566.26 for 5th place in the PokerStars ‘Hot $55, $100K GTD’

Shyam ‘shyam90000’ Shahani won $3,151.47 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘Hot $109, $10K GTD’

Karan ‘Karan Radia’ Radia won $2,900.00 for 2nd place in the 888 Poker ‘$20,000 Saturday Challenge’

Rohit ‘buzzzbeee85’ Mariwalla made $2,674.78 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘$27 NLHE [6-Max, Hyper-Turbo], $20K GTD’

Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover made $1,998.08 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘$27 NLHE [Deep Stacks], $8K GTD’ and also cashed $1,005.34 for 2nd place in the PokerStars ‘$33 NLHE, $5K GTD’

Piyush ‘Piyush16’ Gupta won $1,762.07 for 1st place in the PokerStars ‘Big $82, $8K GTD’ and also won $1,112.49 for 2nd place in the Party Poker ‘Heavyweight: $5K GTD PKO Freezeout’. Piyush also made $1,132.24 for 3rd place in the PokerStars ‘Big $82, $8K GTD’

Invitational-Only PokerStars All Stars Series

World’s biggest poker company PokerStars is currently hosting an invitational only rake-free series titled PokerStars All Stars, which is slated to run till May 10. There are some very attractive prizes on offer with the top five largest winners receiving an additional $20,000 on top of their winning amount in the series. That’s not all; as the top 10 finishers in the Masters games will get up to $7,000 in leaderboard cash prizes!

WSOP International Circuit Schedule Adds Rotterdam Stop

WSOP International Circuit adds Netherlands to its list of countries with the new stop in Rotterdam. The series is slated to run from August 25 to September 2 and will be held at the newly renovated Holland Casino Rotterdam. The schedule consists of 13 events with 12 WSOP Circuit rings to be claimed.
