Here are this week`s top stories

Dec 24 marked the start of the holiday season, with Christmas. This time is usually one, which witnesses fewer large live tournaments taking place. However, the online traffic rises in equal proportion and to the delight of players, PokerStars put up a spectacular banquet of promotions, with its December Festival that featured palate-tingling events! Players from across the world were in the fray, but this fortnight, Indians were primed to take their rightful share of the pie.

If Christmas came early for Armaan on Sunday Dec 21, it was an early New Year celebration for Aditya ‘donkab0mber’ Sushant and Abhishek ‘alwaysdegen’ Kumar, both who final tabled the last Sunday Million of the year on Dec 28, besides Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal who also made a deep run.

Thus, India made back-to-back Sunday Million finishes, besides having 2 players at the final table last Sunday. Sushant now holds the record for being the only Indian player to have 2 Sunday Million final tables. With this win, Abhishek ‘alwaysdegen’ Kumar is our ‘PokerGuru Star of the Week‘ for his highest score of $96,014. You can read all the amazing details in our Online Railbird Report.

Another scintillating piece of news is the prelude to the 2015 WSOP schedule. While, details about the entire schedule are yet to be released, WSOP issued a teaser, outlining the mega-tournament, which will have an additional new event this year. Check out the “Colossus” and more about the upcoming WSOP below.

The other significant news is Kara Scott leaving PartyPoker at the end of 2014, close on the heels of Vicky Coren-Mitchell parting from PokerStars.

Though the curtains fall on 2014 this week, the poker excitement continues unabated. The coming month is chock a bloc with international and domestic tournaments. 2015 begins with the EPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, running Jan 6-14 at the magnificent Atlantis in The Bahamas, with the Main event scheduled for Jan 8-14 and features some ultra-luxe prizes.

Next is the APPT Aussie Million Series from Jan 14-Feb 2 at the Crown Melbourne. Mega Satellites are already on for this tournament.

Blogging about it, the face of Indian poker, Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal has confirmed his presence, the question is will you be there!

After a hiatus of 15 months, Goa will see a flurry of IPC excitement, with their first series of 2015, running from Jan 21-25, with 5 events at the Deltin Royale. As always, PokerGuru will be onsite to provide you all the coverage from the first flop till the last river.
