In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly round up of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week`s top stories

The momentum continues, without letting up on the pace. Even as a record-breaking IPC series came to a close last to last week, the action at the 2015 Aussie Millions reached fever pitch, with our Indian Challengers running deep in several events. After Rahul Byraju’s hot win of $100,000 in the $25,000 Challenge Event, Akash Malik now makes 7th place finish for $16,050 in Event 18.

Nearer home, the APT Asian Series Cebu 2015 series kicked off its first series of the year on Tuesday, Jan 27 at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu City. The currently running side events have brought forth several winners, including two-time APT POY Sam Razavi. The Main Event, which started on Friday, Jan 30, is currently underway and down to a final table of eight players with local pro John Tech leading the pack with 1,276,000 in chips.

Poker players can look forward to loads of action with the WPT Deepstack Malta, ANZPT Perth and ACOP Platinum Series taking flight this week. And later this month, the Macau Poker Cup 22 is slated from February 27 – March 15, 2015 where a record number of Indian players are expected to be in attendance.

In domestic news, up ahead next week, the Tilt Poker Series returns with its Feb edition in Bangalore. The series will unfold from Feb 11–16 at the Rockets Poker Room, Bangalore.

The IPC too, has announced its next series from April 1-5, cancelling the earlier announced March Edition. The unprecendented player crowds at the Jan edition led to many players getting turned away due to limited seats and hence, the organizers are taking more time to arrange for additional floor space to accommodate extra tables to avoid this situation in the next series.

In our other news roundup, there is the Gambling Bill coming into effect in Singapore, the City of Dreams Poker Room launch in Manila and the newly released WSOP 2015 schedule.

The online felts have been active too, with the recently concluded TCOOP, where PokerStars Team Pro Aditya Agarwal was the only Indian to cash in the $700 Main Event. Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover is our ‘PokerGuru Star of the Week‘ with $9,403 accumulated online this week. Arsh is continuing a good run, after his $13,699 cash at PokerStars in the 2nd week of Jan.

Alen who spoke to us last year, put in an incredible performance on Sunday, taking down TCOOP Event 45 for $29,645. He subsequently followed it up with another win at the PokerStars ‘The Bigger $33, $40K GTD’ for $8,348.
