In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly round-up of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week`s top stories

This second week of June was a big one for poker both in terms of live as well as online action. The ongoing 2018 World Series of Poker has dominated the poker action throughout and brought a lot of thrilling moments for poker lovers worldwide. From several first-time bracelet winners to exciting heads-up matches, the 49th annual WSOP has been an all-out entertainer.

Our Indian challengers were busy making inroads at the series and featured prominently in several WSOP events. While Paawan Bansal narrowly missed out on the final table in the COLOSSUS where he finished 13th for $35,087 (~₹23.51 Lakhs), PokerStars Team pro Aditya Agarwal managed to make a few deep runs as well and cashed in at the Big Blind Antes $1,500 placing 77th for $3,517 (~₹2.37 Lakhs) and $1,500 6-Handed where he finished 133rd for $2,615 (~₹1.76 Lakhs).

Another big newsmaker was Raghav Bansal, who was on his way to create history by making Day 3 of the $1,500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER but his dream run ended in 21st place for $40,898 (~₹27.64 Lakhs). Kunal Patni (268th place for $6,654) and Anil Adiani (821st place for $2,808) also finished in the money alongside Bansal.

While live felts were heating up, the online felts fared well too, as Vishal ‘spartacus’ Tulsyan, ‘ChipKhalifa’ and ‘Bhachak’ registered noteworthy scores. However, Sandeep ‘effuno’ Verma dominated the online poker scene with his Baazi Super Sunday ₹15 Lakhs GTD win on PokerBaazi, becoming our “PokerGuru Star of the Week”.

Another big announcement was from PokerBaazi which revealed the start of the ’18 Summer Edition of the PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL).

Goa was in the news this week for a couple of reasons. First, news came of Former Goan Minister Francisco Mickky Pacheco, who is to face criminal charges for trying to trespass into the Treasures Casino in 2009, while 10 operational casinos will be investigated by the DRI for service tax liabilities.

In the international sphere, partypoker joined the shared liquidity platform, Poker Hall of Fame announced the opening of the public nominations for its 2018 nominees, insider trading charges against David Baazov were dropped, Nazara Technologies joined the Kenyan sports betting market and Delaware legalized sports gambling.

To concluded our weekly recap, we bring you tournament reports from WPT New Zealand and WSOP 2018.

But it was Sandeep ‘effuno’ Verma who impressed them all by winning the Baazi Super Sunday ₹15 Lakhs GTD on PokerBaazi for an astounding sum of ₹3.03 Lakhs and is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week”.
