With the 52nd World Series of Poker (WSOP) in its fourth week, we are sure to witness some Indian participation at the fall series soon. With the Indian contingent only days away from making a full-on assault at the WSOP, the ongoings at the virtual felts have been keeping us busy. The week ahead promises to take the excitement several notches higher as the much-awaited 5 Crores GTD EndBoss kicks off tonight on PokerBaazi!

PokerGuru Ambassadors dominated the online MTTs this past week. The week’s biggest scorer turned out to be the former Millionaire champion, PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun Mahesh, who added a whopping ₹22.44 Lakhs on the back of his smashing run in the Adda52 Big Game and Spartan Poker’s The Big Deal. For his phenomenal performance, Mahesh is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”

Mahesh’s stablemates Ashish Ahuja (₹21.85 Lakhs) and Kartik Ved (₹14.74 Lakhs) were the other players to rake in seven figures in weekly earnings alongside Sumit Sapra and Atishay Samuel.

PokerBaazi had a lot of big announcements this week. Besides hosting one of India’s biggest online tournaments, the EndBoss 2021, as a part of its seventh-anniversary celebrations, the brand also announced Pratibha Arya as its newest Baazi Gaming Pro.

While Spartan Poker is presently running the 15 Lakhs GTD PLO Leaderboard (October 18 -24), PokerStars India rolled out a 10-week long Tournament Festival promising over ₹20 Crores in guaranteed prizes (October 18 to December 26).

Giving in to the Diwali spirit, BLITZPOKER has lined up Diwali Bash Freerolls, a series of four freerolls (one daily) from November 1 to 4.

Meanwhile, Asia’s largest online poker room, Natural8, launched the free-to-play event, Game of Squids, featuring a series of six tournaments that puts players’ survival skills to test.

Moving onto the 2021 WSOP, this past week was an amazing one that saw ‘Poker Brat’ aka Phil Hellmuth capture a record-extending 16th gold bracelet in Event #31 :$1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw for $84,851! The other bracelet winners were Ryan Leng, Michael Noori, Ran Koller, Jim Collopy, Anthony Koutsos, Michael Prendergast, Ryan Stoker, and David Baker.

In other news, the Bombay High Court upheld the decision of the Goa government to ban the entry of local to casinos after dismissing a petition challenging the restriction.

The list of 10 finalists of the 2021 class of the Poker Hall of Fame (PHoF) was also announced recently. Bertrand Grospellier, Michael Mizrachi, and Layne Flack are the new additions this year. The official announcement for the 60th inductee to the PHoF will be made on November 17 during the new WSOP Hall of Fame Bounty tournament.
