With Diwali just around the corner, the virtual felts have been teeming with news of offers, promotions, and upcoming tournaments.

The week’s biggest story was PokerBaazi’s ₹5 Crores GTD EndBoss crowning a champion in Ishaan Chugh! The 31-year-old MIT graduate, the CEO of Abacus- a boutique AI consulting firm, took down the second edition of India’s biggest online tournament for a whopping ₹71.48 Lakhs following a three-way deal. The EndBoss was just the 10th tournament Chugh had played on PokerBaazi and had received a free ticket to the mega tournament through PokerBaazi. It goes without saying that Chugh’s phenomenal performance has landed him on the top of our weekly rankings, making him our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”

Divanshu Khurana was the second biggest scorer of the week. Although he finished third in the EndBoss, the three-way deal fetched him a career-best ₹63.37 Lakhs. The EndBoss runner-up Dhiraj Lakhotia locked in ₹57.30 Lakhs. He added another ₹1.76 Lakhs on Monday, after shipping The Big Show. The Darjeeling-based player wrapped up the week with ₹59.05 Lakhs in total winnings.

Ujjwal Narwal, Eka Vedantham, Mohammad Azhar, Praneet Prakash, and Young Gun Gaurav Sood also added seven figures in weekly earnings.

With PokerBaazi’s 7th Anniversary Bash now in the books, online poker sites have started gearing up for the Diwali and Halloween festivities in earnest. Spartan Poker’s Ultimate Value Series (UVS) and PokerBaazi’s Baazi Grinders Series are sure to keep the low to mid-stakes players occupied in the meantime.

If you thought that the online action would dull down after Diwali, then think again. Spartan Poker has already announced the third edition of its popular The Millionaire Series. The series is slated to run from November 21 to 28 and promises over ₹7 Crores in guaranteed prizes!

Asia’s largest online poker room, Natural8, has announced an exciting “Trick or Treat” promotion giving players a chance to win from a variety of prizes, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max!

Moving over to the live-action, Team India has finally opened its scorecard at the 52nd World Series of Poker (WSOP). MPL Poker pro Dhaval Mudgal (154th for $3,124 – ₹2.35 Lakhs), Adda52 Game Ambassador Kunal Patni (168th for $3,124 – ₹2.35 Lakhs) and Young Gun Neel Joshi (446th for $1,752 – ₹1.32 Lakhs) cashed in Event #43: $1,000 Double Stack. Young Guns Arsh Grover (103rd for $1,956 – ₹1.46 Lakhs) and Abhinav Iyer (164th for $1,762 – ₹1.32 Lakhs) posted scores in Event #46: $800 NLHE Deepstack.

Adam Friedman claimed his fourth WSOP bracelet in Event #36: $10K Dealer’s Choice Championship, defeating 16-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth heads-up. This was his third consecutive win in this event. Australian poker pro Michael Addamo clinched his fourth high roller title in less than two months in Event #38: $50K High Roller.

David “Bakes” Baker, Kevin Gerhart, Bradley Ruben, Josh Arieh, and Tommy Le were the other prominent bracelet winners.

The Indian poker community has been following the developments of the gaming ban challenge in the Karnataka High Court closely. Last week, the court granted online gaming operators and players some respite by directing the state Advocate-General to ensure the state police make no further arrests under the provisos of the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2021 that criminalizes and prohibits all forms of real-money online games in the state. The writ petitions made by the All India Gaming Federation AIGF) and Mobile Premier League (MPL) is expected to be heard on Friday. This is a developing story, and we will be sharing the latest updates as they come.

Online Railbird Report

In one of the most defining weeks for online poker this year, EndBoss, India’s biggest online poker tournament featuring a ₹5 Crore guarantee, crowned a champion on Sunday. 31-year-old MIT graduate and AI-Design researcher, Delhi-based Ishaan Chugh trounced the 4,816-strong field, eventually saying yes to a three-way deal to claim the title for a career-best ₹71.48 Lakhs. Chugh has not only become the latest “EndBoss” with his feat, but he also overshadowed the rest of the crowd, becoming our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”
