In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker,’ we bring you the weekly roundup of the most significant online scores by Indian MTT players and the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week’s top stories!

This past week turned out to be yet another smashing one on the virtual felts with PokerBaazi’s ₹2 Crores GTD Game Changer 4.0 leading the charge. A late surge helped register 3,990 entries and outlasting them all to claim the dazzling top prize of ₹33.16 Lakhs was a relatively lesser-known player, Jaikiran testifyKumar. The 27-year-old bested Mohak ‘Tiltin’ Kapoor (runner-up for ₹23.08 Lakhs) heads-up to become the new Game Changer champion. For his exemplary performance, Kumar is our PokerGuru Star of the Week!

PokerStars India’s inaugural INCOOP also culminated this week. The star attraction of the series, the ₹1 Crore GTD INCOOP Main Event, locked in 884 entries and was championed by Sanish ‘sneakysani’ Chhabra for ₹14.52 Lakhs. Before capturing the title, Chhabra struck a three-way deal with ‘aabha’ (runner-up for ₹12.09 Lakhs) and Avijit SwangoRay Jaiswal (3rd for ₹10.73 Lakhs).

Raman Gujral, Kunal Patni, Arjun Singh Kochhar, Dhirendra Kumar, and Harsh Dembla were the other top scorers this week.

The World Poker Tour (WPT) also announced its return to India this week. Unlike the last three years, WPT India will not be taking place onboard the Casino Deltin Royale in Goa but instead will be gracing the virtual felts at Adda52 in its online avatar as the WPT Online India. The series is scheduled from November 5 to 22 and offers a jaw-dropping ₹13.5 Crores in prize pool guarantees across 154 events!

This past week was choc-a-bloc with promotional announcements. The latest poker site to hit the Indian market, Dan Bilzerian’s BLITZPOKER, has rolled out the Blitz Premier League (BPL) with a whopping ₹50 Lakhs in giveaways.

PokerBaazi has been busy hosting the second edition of the Indian Micro Poker Series (IMPS) since September 21. The 14-day long series comprises over 126 tournaments and ₹2 Crores in prize pool guarantees.

PokerDangal will be celebrating its third birthday on September 26, and the birthday month has the Dangal Grinder Series (DGS) starting on September 23. The four-day series promises ₹25 Lakhs in guaranteed prizes across 16 tournaments.

The start of IPL 2020 has also brought back focus on brand endorsements for cricketers and other celebrities. A week after 9stacks appointed former Indian batsman Suresh Raina as its brand ambassador, the company`s fantasy sports platform Faboom has roped in India`s biggest YouTuber Bhuvan Bam to endorse the site`s offering during IPL.

At a time when the other platforms are going full-throttle, India’s only BSE-listed hospitality and casino firm, Delta Corp., seems to be considering the sale of its online poker site Adda52. According to reports, Delta Corp has been in talks with several companies for a possible sale with Mumbai-based game developer Nazara Technologies being touted as one of the frontrunners.

In other news, the BJP MP from Karnataka, KC Ramamurthy, called for a ban on online rummy during a Rajya Sabha session last week, pointing out how people were getting addicted to the game.
