The biggest story emanating from the third week of September was the grand finale of Spartan Poker`s Final Table Series (FTS) 3.0. The series’ showstopper, the ₹2 Crores GTD FTS Main Event, was the last event to crown a champion. PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan bagged the coveted title and the 18K diamond-studded Gold Medallion reserved for the ultimate FTS champion for a career-best ₹33 Lakhs. He struck a heads-up deal with Young Gun Devang Yadav (2nd for ₹29.97 Lakhs). And since Wadhawan had carried two stacks to the final table, he was awarded the sixth-place payout on the shorter stack worth ₹8.54 Lakhs, pushing his cumulative winnings in the event to a monstrous ₹41.67 Lakhs. For his phenomenal performance, Ankit Wadhawan is our“PokerGuru Star of the Week!”

PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek Singh, Manish Lakhotia, Shagun Jain, Sanjay Taneja, and Aman Kumar Sharma were the other standout winners of the week.

With the FTS 3.0 now over, its PokerStars India’s INCOOP, the daily-running marquees, and the two budget series – PokerBaazi’s IMPS Gold Edition and Spartan Poker`s UVS – that’s keeping the MTT players busy.

Offering more bankroll building options to players, BLITZPOKER has launched its ₹10K Game Changer Freeroll promotion. The daily-running freerolls are open to all losing cash game players on the site from September 21 to 30.

The recently launched poker site, IndiaPlays, is already eyeing a more significant share of the online gaming business. The gaming startup is planning to introduce rummy and fantasy sports on its gaming platform to diversify its revenue streams.

Meanwhile, Asia’s largest online poker room, Natural8, is back with the third edition of the Asia Poker League (APL). Running from September 19 to October 3, the series offers a jaw-dropping ¥80,000,000 (~$12.5 million) in prize pool guarantees.

In other news, the state government of Karnataka tabled the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2021, in the State Legislative Assembly on September 17. Like the ones drafted by Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, the Karnataka bill looks to ban and criminalize online gaming. The Assembly approved the bill on Tuesday, September 21.

In some positive news, the casinos in Goa are back in business. The government green-lighted their reopening last week, and the operations kickstarted on September 20, albeit at 50% capacity. The state guidelines require all patrons to be either double-vaccinated or carry a COVID-19 negative RTPCR report.

Moving to the international sphere, the buzz around the soon-to-start World Series of Poker (WSOP) is building up. In a late addition, the organizers have added 11 online bracelets to the fall series schedule slated to run from September 30 to November 23 in Las Vegas.

The sixth edition of PokerGO’s Poker Masters also closed its run at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. This past week saw Michael Addamo, Chris Brewer, Miles Rampel, and Mikita Badziakouski claim titles, with Addamo`s back-to-back wins in the last two events earning him the coveted Poker Masters Purple Jacket!
