The second $100,000 Super High Roller tournament at the Aria Resort and Casino Las Vegas wrapped up on Friday, September 5th. The 22-player field made for a prize pool for $2.178 Million and saw several notables joining in on the action, that included the likes of Doug “WCGRider” Polk, Brian Rast, Andrew Robl, Philipp Gruissem and Joseph Cheong among others.
American Tom Marchese (cover image) was the last man standing and bagged the top prize of $1,306,800. Cary Katz (2nd for $653,400) and Brian Rast (3rd for $217,800) were the other players who made it in the money!
The tournament bubble burst with the elimination of high stakes specialist Andrew Robl in fourth place. Robl was all in for against the of Rast. The board blanked out for Robl who was the last elimination of the tournament, out of the money.
Rast was next to hit the rails when his failed to catch up against the of Marchese. His exit paved way for the heads-up match between Marchese and Katz.
The heads-up saw Marchese emerge as the champion. On the final hand of the tournament, Katz was looking to catch up with king-jack against Marchese`s ace-queen. The board missed Katz and just like that, Marchese was crowned champion!
This is Marchese`s second largest win this year; he took third in the Bellagio $100,000 Super High Roller for $1,465,451 in June and now has over $7.5 million in live tournament earnings after this win.
Katz on the other hand has not been having a bad year himself, this runner-up finish being his second biggest score this year too. His best career cash was the eighth finish in the WSOP $1 Million Big One for One Drop for over $1.3 Million!
