The 2025 Triton Poker Series Jeju was already buzzing, and this latest event cranked the volume up to eleven. This wasn’t just any tournament; it was a poker party that blew the doors off previous records. A massive influx of fresh faces joining the Triton regulars has led to turnouts that have been nothing short of jaw-dropping. This specific event, Event #3: $25K NLH 8-Handed, obliterated the previous record of 379 entries (set in the $15K buy-in series opener) with a staggering 391 hopefuls joining the fray

At the centre of this poker maelstrom was Jeremy Ausmus (cover image). He’s a familiar face on the winner’s podium, with six WSOP bracelets already. A Triton title had eluded him. The man didn’t just win; he conquered the largest-ever $25,000 buy-in tournament in Triton history, snagging a career-best $1.892 Million payday.

But the path to victory wasn’t some smooth, predictable cruise. There was a moment, with 23 players left, where things could have gone horribly wrong. Ausmus, holding pocket kings, had a finger fumble of epic proportions – a misclick that resulted in a limp instead of a raise. Fate, it seems, had other plans. His opponent, armed with pocket aces, ended up making quads. If the chips had flown in preflop, Ausmus would’ve been history. Sometimes, a little bit of luck goes a long way.

From that point, it was a masterclass in poker prowess. With his buddy, poker icon Jason Koon, sweating the action, Ausmus played it smart, played it cool, and played it to win.

The final table was a minefield of talent. Triton veteran Zhou Quan was there, along with Malaysian powerhouse Sim Kok Wai and rising American poker vlogger Alexander ‘Wolfgang Poker’ Seibt. Ausmus bided his time, accumulating chips as others fell.

Then came another key hand, and those pocket kings made a reappearance. Ausmus was ready. Lithuanian pro Paulius Vaitiekunas, holding pocket fours, shoved all-in. Ausmus, naturally, called in a heartbeat. The board brought no surprises, and Ausmus suddenly found himself with a commanding chip lead as they reached six-handed play.

The eliminations started to cascade. Quan took out Sim Kok Wai in third place, hitting a straight that cracked Wai’s pocket kings. This set up the heads-up match for the title. Ausmus versus Quan, with Quan holding a slight edge.

The heads-up duel was over before you knew it. Ausmus, with , went up against Zhou Quan‘s . A king on the river gave Ausmus a massive double-up. He had a two-to-one lead, and he wasn’t about to let it slip. Soon after, his outflopped Quan’s pocket threes, and that was all she wrote. The Trident trophy and a hefty chunk of change were heading back to Vegas.

This win does more than just add another trophy to Ausmus’ collection. It establishes him as a true all-around poker talent. He’s now crossed $26.60 Million in live tournament earnings, and he is looking good in the 2025 Player of the Year race.

“This is amazing,” Ausmus stated after his victory. “I don’t travel overseas much, but I saw how big Jeju was last year and knew I had to be here.”

He might not be a Triton regular, but this win sends a clear message: Jeremy Ausmus is a serious contender. It could be that a new Triton era has just begun.
