Netherlands’ Teun Mulder (cover image) emerged as the latest winner at the 2022 Triton Poker Special Edition Series at Merit Royal Hotel Casino and Spa. On Monday, Mulder overcame the 68-entry field in Event #2: $100K NLH 8-Handed and defeated fellow Dutchman Tom Vogelsang heads-up to win his third live title and a career-best $1.94 Million.

The Triton title victory must have been sweet redemption for Mulder, who held a dominating chip leader entering the final day of the 2022 EPT Prague €5,300 Main Event last month but fell out in a disappointing seventh place.

Event #2: $100K NLHE collected a $6,624,000 prize pool, split among the last nine players, and a min-cash worth $192,000.

Event #1 champion, Hungary’s Andras Nemeth, lost his chance to win a second Triton title, and his departure was especially brutal as he money-bubbled Event #2 in 10th place. Vogelsang made a straight with jack-six, dominating Nemeth’s ace-five.

Final Table Recap

Early into play, the shortest stack on the final table, the Event #1 sixth-place finisher Elton Tsang was busted by Mike Watson in ninth place.

Over the next hour, the 2021 PGT POY Ali Imsirovic lost most of his stack. He ultimately exited in eighth place after his ace-four couldn`t catch up to Tom Vogelsang’s ace-king.

Vogelsang doubled up to take over the chip lead and got to work immediately by eliminating Paul Phua in seventh place.

After that, Mulder scalped his first player on the final table, dominating Michael Soyza’s pocket tens with his queen-jack flopping top pair.

As Vogelsang continued to add to his stack, Run It Once coach Daniel Dvoress was shown the door by Jake Schindler in fifth place.

Armed with more chips, Schindler set his sights on Mike Watson`s stack and relegated him to the rail in fourth place – his ace-king holding up against Watson`s king-deuce.

Mulder scored an early double-up through Jake Schindler in the three-handed play, and Schindler couldn’t survive much longer. His went down to Mulder’s that made a flush on the runout .

Mulder held the lead over Tom Vogelsang at the start of their heads-up match, and he kept the showdown short and sweet. In just the second hand of their clash, Vogelsang jammed for 2,300,000 on the board . Mulder snap-called with . The completed the board, and Mulder hit his gutshot draw to make the winning straight for the win.
