PokerStars Ambassador Sam Grafton (cover image) decimated a field of 115 entries in the 2022 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series (SHRS) Cyprus Event #6: $200K NLHE Coin Rivet Invitational to win his first Triton Poker title for a career-best $5,500,000. Linus Loeliger finished runner-up for $3,900,000.

The 42-year-old British pro has had an incredible run at the Triton Poker SHRS Cyprus so far. He was in the hunt for his first Triton poker title in Event #3: $50K NLHE 6-Handed but eventually finished runner-up for $994,500. The $200K NLHE Coin Rivet Invitational pushed his overall series score to over $6.49 million.

This was his second live title of the year, as he had won the PokerStars EPT Prague €10,200 NLHE Bounty High Roller in March for €80,360. Grafton is ranked #4 in England’s All-Time Money List with $12,206,361 in live tournament earnings.

After the win, Grafton said, “It was so much fun. Playing against some of the most remarkable entrepreneurs and businesspeople in the world…It was played with a special spirit. On the day the two lanes merged, players were smiling like it was Christmas or their birthday. Everyone had a skip in their steps.”

He added, “Tournament poker is just amazing. Playing this format is very special.”

Grafton also mentioned his final two opponents. On Karl Chappe-Gatien (3rd for $2,600,000), Grafton said, “He played with so much heart and swagger. It was so much fun.”

Talking about Loeliger, Grafton added, “Obviously Linus is remarkable. To beat him heads-up, he’s probably the best in the world in the heads-up format.”

Grafton’s partner, his friend and Coin Rivet co-founder Dave Nicholson, also ITM-ed the event, busting in 16th. Grafton approached Nicholson after the tournament and said, “Thanks for the invite, bruv. I wouldn’t have come if it hadn’t been for you. I didn’t have my name on the list.”

The $200K buy-in NLHE Coin Rivet Invitational attracted 115 entries (including 25 re-entries) to collect $23 Million in the prize pool, making it the second biggest tournament ever held at the Triton Series. The top 17 places were assured a min-cash of at least $380,000.

India’s Santhosh Suvarna (20th) and Amit Kanodia (26th) participated in the invitational event, but both fell short of the money on Day 2.

Chris Brewer was eliminated in 18th place as the money bubble.

Vadzim Godzdanker (11th for $485,000), Daniel Cates (12th for $440,000), Theis Vad Hennebjerre (13th for $440,000), Horace Wei (14th for $400,000), Leon Tsoukernik (15th for $400,000), Dave Nicholson (16th for $380,000), and Eric Worre (17th for $380,000) were the notables to cross the money line in the event.
