Mica Lamar Win SHRPO Event #12: $300 Ladies NLHE For $5,000

Mica Lamar outlasted the 66-entry field in Event #12: $300 Ladies Event for a $5,000 payday and an entry into the $1,100 Deep Stack event. She chopped the title heads-up with Sahar Khajavi (2nd for $4,435).

Lamar later confessed she wanted to play two events on Saturday, the $300 Ladies Event and the $400 Deep Stack. She initially planned to start with the Ladies Event, and if she didn’t make the final table, she could slide into the last starting flight of the $400 Deep Stack. However, Lamar ended up cutting it close, arriving just before registration closed for the Ladies Event around 5:15 PM. She said, “I was the very last person to register for the Ladies Event. “So I got here just in time. Last in, last out.”

She added, “I’ve been coming in second a lot. So, this first trophy is a pretty good feeling.”

This may be Lamar’s first trophy, but she’s no novice, with more than $100,000 in tournament earnings in just 16 months.

She further added, “It was a great group of ladies today. I really enjoyed playing with them. It was a fun table. But ladies are tough. I’d rather play with the guys. With the ladies, you just really don’t know. They’re very unpredictable.”
