The $600 NLHE event of the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Harrah’s Cherokee attracted 391 runners, generating a prize pool of $201,365. American pro Maurice Hawkins (cover image) outlasted the field to clinch his 12th WSOP Circuit gold ring, banking $44,297 in prize money. His latest win has now tied him with Valentin Vornicu who also has 12 Circuit rings to his name.

Ranked second on the Missouri All-Time Money List, Hawkins has around $3.7 Million in live winnings, with his career-best score coming through the $1,675 NLHE – Main Event Ring Event#10 which he won in 2016 for $279,722.

Hawkins journey to winning 12 Circuit rings started way back in 2008 when he claimed his first-ever gold ring in the $560 NLHE event at the WSOPC Harrah’s Atlantic City for $48,360. With a total of 87 cashes in the WSOPC and winnings totaling $1,668,698, Hawkins also leads the race for the most prize money won at the WSOPC.

Talking about winning his 12th Circuit ring, Hawkins said, “It’s not really about the top spot. I still got the most money earned, most everything on the WSOP Circuit, so it’s pretty much the standard, but that makes me feel like my game has evolved to where it should be. I look forward to bigger and better things. It’s all about positivity and good flow of things going the right way.”

Commenting about his run in the event, the Florida native stated, “I ran exceptionally well in every spot. And I played really well. I got a lot of third and fourth in the last couple of months. It feels great to finally get back to the winner’s circle. I don’t look at myself as a third-place finisher in any tournament.”

Hawkins even shared his excitement after winning his 12th WSOPC ring on Twitter.

45 runners finished in the money and the notable names among them were Timothy Stone (11th for $3,391), Dustin Foster (15th for $2,783), Christopher Lackey (18th for $2,316) and Steven Snyder (22nd for $1,665).
