World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the ultimate poker destination for all poker players, whether recreational or professional and so it rightly deserves the title of the “world’s biggest poker festival”. Every year the WSOP manages to outperform its preceding year’s exploits, but this year is going to be extra special since it is the brand’s 50th Anniversary!
From last December updates regarding the brand’s upcoming festivities began pouring in and less than a week ago WSOP unveiled a schedule featuring 73 events. In the latest update, the global poker giant has confirmed the complete schedule of the 50th annual edition of the WSOP.
In December 2018, WSOP disclosed the dates for its 2019 series while also announcing that a total of 78 bracelet events will be held between May 29 and July 17 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Among the 78 events would be seven marquee tournaments with all the action at the poker festival to be aired on PokerGO and ESPN, from July 3-16.
Earlier this month, the international poker brand revealed details of 13 more events at the series and also announced that one of the signature events at the WSOP, The Colossus would be undergoing a revamp making it a two-flight event that will start on June 26. The second flight will kick off the following day.
Additionally, a $1,000 buy-in Mini Main Event was also added to the WSOP calendar and will play out two days before the start of the $10,000 Main Event, i.e. on Monday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 2.
Furthermore, two Super Turbo Bounty events were also confirmed on the schedule with both events featuring a single-day structure. The $1,000 buy-in version will offer a $300 bounty for each elimination, while in the $1,500 version each elimination will be worth $500.
On January 23, the WSOP in a press release announced details about the 73 events on the 2019 schedule along with other changes in format and structures.
WSOP came out with news of an increase in the starting stacks in events and that all No-Limit Hold’em events at the 2019 WSOP, including gold bracelet events, Daily Deepstacks and Mega Satellites, would adopt the Big Blind Ante format.
On January 30, WSOP announced the complete schedule for the 2019 series with details of seven more events.

In yet another press release, WSOP stated that in order to honour the 50th anniversary of the series many special events were in the plans including “a celebratory gala and awards evening on Saturday, June 29 and a huge opening weekend event.”
Among the seven events that have been added to the schedule, the ones to watch out for are the $600 Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold’em and the $500 Salute to Warriors No-Limit Hold’em.
A plethora of $600 and $800 buy-in events have also been added to the roster to accommodate low-stakes players including events like the $600 Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold’em which has a $500,000 guarantee and a WSOP Main Event seat added to the prize pool for the winner.
WSOP Vice President Jack Effel said, “We hope everyone who loves the game of poker comes out to experience our big 50th. We are confident you will find an event or two to your liking, and hopefully one that allows you to raise the gold bracelet over your head at the end of it.”
Moreover, the WSOP has also been focussing keenly on its charitable endeavours. Apart from the usual partnership with One Drop, which raises thousands of dollars each year, the U.S. military veterans will also benefit this year from the $500 Salute to Warriors No-Limit Hold’em. Slated to run from July 2-4, the event will raise money for United Service Organization (USO) and “other veteran organizations.” Salute to Warriors is an open event but will have a focus on encouraging active military personnel and veterans to participate.
Lastly, the WSOP also announced some slight changes to the Daily Deepstack schedule. In addition to the usual Daily Deepstacks, a weekly $250 Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack will be held on Sundays. Senior players will get their very own $250 Seniors Deepstack on Wednesdays.
“Things are starting to come together on the rest of the 2019 WSOP playing schedule,” said Effel. “Being this is our 50th running, we are doing everything we can to make this year’s iteration bigger, better and more valuable for players.”
