WPC-SEAPT 2022: Shardul Parthasarathi, Siddharth Mundada & Deepak Bothra Lead 10 Indians to Day 2 of VN₫ 8 Billion GTD Main Event

Things are heating up as the 2022 WPC-SEAPT Series nears the finish line! The series showstopper, VN₫ 8 Billion GTD WPC-SEAPT Main Event, has completed it’s four starting flights and Day 2 is currently underway.

Indian presence at the Asian felts has been quite prominent throughout 2022. The WPC-SEAPT Series was no different, with Team India already recording 17 cashes, including six final table finishes and one title win!

The Main Event registered 1,020 entries, smashing the advertised guarantee to collect a VN₫ 17,809,200,000 (~$751,126) prize pool. Among the 128 Day 2 survivors were ten Indians led by Young Gun Shardul Parthasarathi (463,000).

Siddharth Mundada (432,000), Deepak Bothra (398,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik Ved (374,000), Abhinav Iyer (348,000), Young Gun Gaurav Sood (291,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan (252,000), Jasven Saigal (161,000), Sumit Sapra (146,000) and Kunal Patni (138,000) were the other ‘desi’ pros to make the cut for Day 2.

Running alongside the final two starting flights, Day 1C & 1D, of the Main Event was the Turbo Event that was won by the High Roller Single Day runner-up Michael Kim Falcon. He banked VN₫ 45,330,000 up top after striking a five-way deal with Oh Se Kyung (2nd for VN₫ 45,330,000), Dang Hung Duong (3rd for VN₫ 45,330,000), Seo Jeungu (4th for VN₫ 45,330,000) and Kim Jae Jung (5th for VN₫ 45,330,000).

VN₫ 8 Billion GTD WPC-SEAPT Main Event

Day 1C & 1D of the VN₫ 8 Billion GTD WPC-SEAPT Main Event ran on September 22, commencing within hours of each other.

Day 1C gathered 356 entries and Day 1D (Turbo) registered 185 entries, taking the total player pool to 1,020 (Day 1A – 187 & Day 1B – 292). The event collected a VN₫ 17,809,200,000 (~$751,126) prize pool.

A total of 128 players (Day 1A – 23, Day 1B – 37, Day 1C – 45 & Day 1D – 23) qualified for Day 2. Local player Le Cong Vuong emerged as the Day 2 chip leader with a stack of 906,000 and was the only player to cross the 900K mark in chips.

Ten Indians made their way to Day 2 of the Main Event, with Young Gun Shardul Parthasarathi bagging the most enormous stack of 463,000 among the Indian contingent. Siddharth Mundada (432,000) was the only other Indian with over 400K in chips heading into Day 2.

Deepak Bothra (398,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik Ved (374,000), Abhinav Iyer (348,000), Young Gun Gaurav Sood (291,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan (252,000), Jasven Saigal (161,000), Sumit Sapra (146,000) and Kunal Patni (138,000) rounded out the Indian stacks for Day 2.
