The World Poker Tour and Wynn Las Vegas have joined hands to host what promises to be the largest guaranteed live tournament in poker history!

The WPT World Championship will play out at Wynn Las Vegas from December 1-20, 2022. The WPT World Championship will consist of more than a dozen tournaments, including three headline events: the Prime Championship, the Wynn Mystery Bounty, and the World Championship.

But the crown jewel of this prestigious series will be the $10,400 buy-in WPT World Championship, culminating in a televised final table.

The partnership with Wynn Las Vegas comes 13 months after Allied Esport Entertainment acquired The World Poker Tour in July 2021 and will prove a defining stepping stone.

WPT CEO Adam Pliska knows the $15 million guaranteed prize pool is a big gamble, but he’s confident it will turn the tides and create history. He says, “This is one of the most ambitious initiatives the World Poker Tour has undertaken in our 20-year history. We expect this to be a highly-anticipated festival and are elated to be partnering with Wynn Las Vegas to bring this concept to life.”

Executive Director of Poker Operations at Wynn Las Vegas, Ryan Beauregard, was equally gung-ho about the upcoming series. He said, “We offer our guests the biggest and best poker experiences available, coupled with the world-class service and amenities that can only be found at Wynn Las Vegas. In partnership with WPT, we have created a festival that will be a one-of-a-kind, must-attend event for both our current and new players.”

The record-breaking event will run as part of the 20-day festival that kicks off on December 1 at Wynn Las Vegas. The World Championship features three starting flights, each structured as a freezeout, meaning players will be permitted a single entry per flight. The final table will take place at Esports Arena Las Vegas on December 20 and will be filmed for TV.

The event will be a fitting tribute to the WPT as the global poker brand is celebrating 20 years in the industry this year. Joining forces with Wynn marks yet another partnership between WPT and a globally-recognized casino brand.

The event shows promise to return poker to its past glory if the guarantee is met, as it needs a massive 1,500 entries to hit its lofty guarantee and will likely get a lot of international participation as well, with several players assured of walking away with seven-figure cash prizes.

Other Events to Watch Out For

Alongside the magnanimous World Championship event, the World Poker Tour will host a WPT Prime Championship from December 8-12. The $1,100 televised event offers a $2 Million guarantee.

Additionally, the Wynn Mystery Bounty will run from December 16-19 and has a $2 Million guarantee. One lucky winner will also take home a $100,000 mystery bounty envelope. Apparently, 200 online qualifiers will join the field, and many others will be able to satellite their way into the event through live satellites.

The WPT said it plans to run a series of live and online qualifiers for the event, with more details to be made public soon.

“We are absolutely thrilled with our multi-year partnership with Wynn Las Vegas,” said Angelica Hael, Vice President of Global Tour Management at World Poker Tour. “Alongside the WPT Prime Championship and various off-the-felt activities planned, the WPT World Championship festival puts a historic exclamation point on World Poker Tour Season 20.”
