As the world grapples with one of its worst health pandemics in recent history, the prominent poker site, partypoker, is among the many others playing host to prominent online tourneys.

Driving the action on partypoker is the World Poker Tour (WPT) Online Series, and the biggest draw over the weekend was the $25,500 buy-in Super High Roller. The first of the three super high rollers of the series, the event drew to the finale with poker superstar Charlie Carrel coming out on the top of a 98-player field to win $600,250. Arguably one of the best poker pros in the business, Carrel had famously captured the PokerStars SCOOP Main Event for a jaw-dropping $1.2 million three years ago. On Friday night, he trod past a field laden with regs, including his formidable heads-up opponent Ali Insirovic to win the title.

Another big weekend winner was Daniel Reijmer, who beat out a field of 293 runners to clinch the title in the $2,650 Six-Max NLHE. Reijmer defeated Ole Schemion (runner-up for $111,706.25) heads-up to add a hefty $167,137.47 to his bankroll.

Other prominent title winners include, Aleksejs Ponakovs (Event #13 Mini $265 Six Max NLHE for $54,225.52), Luke Martinelli (Event #19 $530 Turbo for $25,895.30), Chad Eveslage (Event #17 $530 Six Max Hyper Knockout for $24,129.57) and Rebecca Lynne Pack ($530 Ladies Event for $13,643).

Coming up on May 11 is the WPT Online WPT500 that will run its two remaining starting flights before starting out on Day 2 proceedings. Also on the tap for today is the starting flight of WPT Super 50 $1M GTD alongside Event #22 PLO High Roller $1 Million GTD.

Looking at the roaring success and positive feedback, WPT and partypoker have made several changes to the schedule. The series that was initially slated to conclude on May 26 has been extended till the month-end. At the same time, the $1,050 WPTDeepStacks has been shifted to May 18, with its guarantee hiked from $2 Million to a mind-blowing $3 Million!

partypoker supremo Rob Yong announced the postponement of the $1,050 WPTDeepStacks on Twitter.

Event #14: $25,500 Super High Roller $2M GTD

The $25,500 buy-in Super High Roller drew 98 entries to generate a $2,450,000 prize pool. With the event comfortably surpassing its guarantee, the top 16 finishers were assured a min-cash of at least $49,000.

Australia’s Michael Addamo was the unfortunate money bubble and busted in 17th place. His elimination set other bigwigs like Thomas Boivin (10th for $61,250), Conor Bersford (12th for $61,250), Matthias Eibinger (13th for $49,000) and Nick Petrangelo (14th for $49,000) sailing past the money line.

The final table was set following the elimination of the recent WPT Online champion, Sam Greenwood (9th for $61,250).

With tough opponents like Pauli Ayras, Christopher Hunichen, and Elias Talvitie falling in quick succession, Carrel came up against Ali Imsirovic in the heads-up play.

The heads-up finale lasted an hour, during which time the chip lead exchanged hands several times. The final hand saw Carrel hit trip sevens on the flop and further improved to a full house of kings full of sevens on the river to outmaneuver Imsirovic’s full house of fours and sevens.
