The buzz around the soon-to-start World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship at Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas is at an all-time high. Touted to be the biggest guaranteed tournament festival in poker history, the 24-event festival starts at 10 AM (local time) on December 1, kick-starting with The Premier Meet-Up Game: WPT Poker Icons Experience in the Wynn Poker Room.

Phil Hellmuth and Patrik Antonius are two poker celebrities confirmed to join a star-studded lineup of poker pros for the cash game fun at the MUG.

“This will be my first meet-up game experience with WPT. I’m looking forward to sitting down to play and seeing what all the hype is about,” Antonius said in a press release. “I think what Brad and Andrew have created for the poker community is exceptional.”

“When I heard that Phil Ivey and Doyle Brunson were playing in this MUG, I knew I had to get involved,” Hellmuth said. “I’m excited to play with the WPT family. Hopefully, no one gets me with a bad beat.”

Hellmuth, the 16-time WSOP bracelet winner, and Antonius, the nosebleed cash game expert with a $1 Million WPT tournament winnings, have both played at some of the highest stakes cash games. Now they will join their peers, and poker fans for some $1/$3 and $2/$5 No-Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha cash games.

The MUG is the perfect opportunity for professional and recreational poker lovers to experience live poker along with some of poker’s greatest icons. It is also an excellent marketing move by the WPT to attract players for the WPT World Championship.

Both poker heavyweights tweeted about attending the MUG.

Since Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme signed on as ambassadors for the World Poker Tour earlier this year, they have been instrumental in setting up several well-received meet-up games around the world. The meet-up games allow poker players to mix up with the hosts and some of the biggest names in the business. Neeme and Owen will be hosting their biggest MUG yet to kick off the festivities at the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.

All the newly minted WPT ambassadors, the poker godfather Doyle Brunson and Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey, world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki, and WPT Anchor Lynn Gilmartin will be among those getting in on the cash game action.

The MUG will get underway at 8 AM on December 1 and will have as many as 26 tables running $1/$3 and $2/$5 No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha games in the luxurious Wynn Poker Room. Other notables confirmed for the MUG include Vince Van Patten, Tony Dunst, and Ashley “PokerFace Ash” Frank.

It is just one of several festivities that WPT has planned for its season finale, which will culminate with the $10,400 buy-in WPT World Championship, which sports a whopping $15 Million prize pool guarantee.

On December 6, world-renowned DJ Aoki will host the WPT Steve Aoki Playhouse Game with a pool, foam pit, and personalized poker table at his residence.

Later in the series, poker commentator Jamie Kerstetter will host a WPT Ladies Meet-Up Game featuring Xuan Liu, Ashley Sleeth, and Lynn Gilmartin that will take place alongside the $200,000 guaranteed Ladies Event.

There will be four WPT World Championship seats worth $10,400 each up for grabs at the MUG as well!
