WPT Spring Festival: “Dannyace66” Wins Main Event Title For ¥1,750,000 (~$270,305)

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Spring Festival is finally in the books, with the ¥2,000 (~$300) buy-in Main Event playing down to a winner on Monday.

The eight finalists from a starting field of 3,505 entries reconvened one last time at 5:30 PM (IST) yesterday. It took all of 75 minutes for the mystery player “DannyAce66” to come out on top to win the Main Event title for a jaw-dropping ¥1,750,000 (~$270,305) and the Baccarat Crystal trophy.“Tianxingjian” finished runner-up for ¥980,000 (~$151,371).

 

Poker King is a prominent Asia-facing poker operator, and this was the first time it collaborated with the WPT.

Perhaps one of the biggest attractions at the Main Event was the participation of 16 celebrity players – each with a ¥1,500 bounty on their head. Only six of them advanced to Day 2 where Day 1B qualifier, Poker King Ambassador Jean-Robert Bellande (325th for ¥6,000 – $927), Day 1C qualifiers Poker King Ambassador Phil Ivey (233rd for ¥6,000 – $927), Phil Hellmuth (229th for ¥6,000 – $927), and Nick Petrangelo (157th for ¥9,000 – $1,390) managed to finish in the money. All the money won by these four players will be donated to a charity of their choosing.

Final Table Recap

In the first 30 minutes of play, the eventual champion “DannyAce66” eliminated two players in quick succession. “Yuchuan” was the first of the two to fall in eighth place, followed by “YeyeDowneyJrYKY” in seventh place.

The eliminations came by fast, with another three players exiting in no time. “Nengfeifei” and the start-of-day chip leader “Mysterious11” ended up giving away all their chips to “Tianxingjian,” and they cashed out in sixth and fifth places, respectively. “Tianxingjian” claimed his third straight knockout by eliminating “Yuyouqianshuijian” in fourth place with the former`s set of fives outrunning the latter’s one-pair.

In what turned out to a turning point on the FT, “DannyAce66” won a massive 81.7 Million pot off “Sojo” that left the latter with just 10 big blinds.

The players went on a short break, and when they returned, “Sojo” ripped it in with . “DannyAce66” called off with . The rundown kept the latter ahead, eliminating “Sojo” in third place.

“DannyAce66” entered the heads-up showdown as a 3:1 favorite, holding an overwhelming 104.8 Million stack against “Tianxingjian”’s 35.4 Million. It all played down to a predictable end with “DannyAce66” taking it down in just a couple of hands. On the final hand, his held through against “Tianxingjian”s on the runout .
