WSOP 2018: Ronald Keijzer Wins Event #69 – $3,000 PLO 6-Handed For $475,033

The 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is now slowly inching towards its thrilling climax. Needless to say but like a tornado, the series swept the world of poker into its tumultuous passion, with some winning bracelets and all having made the dream of attending the global festival come true!

Now approaching its final throes of excitement, the series crowned its latest champion in 26-year-old Dutch player Ronald Keijzer (cover image) who juggernauted his way through the 901-entry field to bank $475,033 along with his first WSOP bracelet.

The seasoned cash player outlasted a strong final table that featured the likes of Scott Bohlman, James Chen and French pro Romain Lewis, on his way to the title. Post his win, the ecstatic champion said, “I’m very happy. I love PLO tournaments and I came to Vegas especially for that.”

“It was really fast. I joined the table with 1.8 million and in 20 minutes I had 4 million… I think my position on the table was just very good with my stack, the other stacks and a lot of ICM pressure.” he added.

Three Indian challengers were busy making inroads at the event. The deepest run was made by PokerBaazi co-founder Navkiran Singh who finished 32^nd for $11,043 (~₹7.60 Lakhs). Akash Malik finished 38^th for $9,172 (~₹6.31 Lakhs) while Girish Sampath took away $4,961 (~₹3.40 Lakhs) in prize money for his 83^rd place finish.

Day 3 Recap

The first to exit on Day 3 was 2012 November Niner Rob Salaburu, followed by Phil Galfond and Alex Bolotin.

Pallas Aidinian was the sole women in the running and she exited in 21^st place.

The pace of eliminations continued unabated as Martin Kozlov (13^th for $21,695), Grant Wall (15^th for $21,695), Jan-Peter Jachtmann (16^th for $21,695), Brock Parker (17^th for $21,695), Matt Stout (19^th for $16,991) fell in quick succession.

Irish player Dermot Blain then left in 12^th place followed by Blake Whittington.

Germany’s bracelet winner Christopher Frank flopped an open-ended straight draw but couldn’t improve against the eventual winner Keijzer’s overpair and he exited in 10th place.

Jonathan Depa fell next when Keijzer flopped a boat. Keizer was an unstoppable force as he then took out Ben Palmer. Palmer shoved with aces only to see Keijzer flop the nut straight. The official six-handed final table was set once Ryan Lenaghan dispatched Tommy Le in seventh place.

Lenaghan’s run ended first when his pair of aces ran into Bohlman’s flopped set of eights.

James Chen exited in fifth place after he jammed with kings but Keijzer flopped a king-high flush, and the turn and river blanked out.

Mohammad Abedi hit the rail in fourth place after his jammed on the flop with an open-ended straight draw against Keijzer’s pair of kings and couldn’t improve.

Scott Bohlman had the chip lead early on in three-handed play but lost some crucial pots and hit the rail. On his final hand, Lewis opened, Bohlman 3-bet, Lewis 4-bet, and the rest of the chips were soon in the middle. Lewis had while Bohlman held / The board fanned out giving Lewis the winning flush as Bohlman’s dream run ended in third place.

The heads-up match between Lewis and Keijzer was a short-lived one. On the final hand, Lewis opened and got the call. On the flop , Lewis bet and Keijzer check-called to see the turn . Lewis fired another bet of 800,000, and Keijzer check-called again. The river completed the board and Keijzer checked a third time. Lewis jammed with and Keijzer instantly called with for a turned straight to win the bracelet!
