Team India`s deep run in Event #61: $400 Colossus is now over with the two remaining Indians, Kunal Patni, and Siddharth Karia, both falling on Day 3. While Karia was eliminated in 89th place for $4,910 (~₹3.38 Lakhs), Patni did relatively better, finishing 56th for $7,219 (~ ₹4.97 Lakhs). Though not his best WSOP score, this is Patni`s deepest run at the ongoing series.

The 107 survivors played down to the last eight players on Day 3 with Greece’s Georgios Kapalas bagging the overnight chip lead holding a massive 105.7 Million stack. Kapalas is the runaway chip leader at the moment as the next top stacks – Andrew Barber (89.3 Million) and Maksim Kalman (85.5 Million) are a considerable distance behind. All the remaining players except for Barber are chasing their first bracelet.

Day 4 begins at 1 PM (Pacific Time Zone) on June 30, with blinds at 1 Million/2 Million and a big blind ante of 2 Million.

Event #61: $400 Colossus – Day 3

There were 11 Indians who had made it to Day 2, and while nine among them finished in the money, the remaining two – Kunal Patni and WSOP debutant Siddharth Karia had made it through to Day 3 alongside 105 other survivors.

Patni is an old-hand at the WSOP with his first WSOP score dating back to 2015. He had already posted three scores at the ongoing series even before coming into Day 3 with approximately 48 big blind’s (9,625,000). Patni started Day 3 as the 12th largest stack among 107 survivors, and his first reported hand featured him losing a sizeable pot holding pocket fives to Eddy Sabat`s king-jack. Sabat hit a broadway to scoop the pot.

Patni’s final hand saw Hyung Kim making a raise to 950,000 from the hijack and Patni shoved all-in from the big blind for 4,975,000. Kim asked for a count before making the call.

The board ran and even though both players flopped a pair, Kim held the better pair. Patni was eliminated in 56th place for $7,219 (-₹4.97 Lakhs).

Karia, who is making his first appearance at the WSOP this year was last seen playing Event #57: $1,000 Tag Team NLHE as part of Team Kevin MacPhee that also featured Dhaval Mudgal and Abhinav Iyer. The team had finished 36th for $3,970 (~₹2.74 Lakhs) with Karia taking home $992 (~₹68,398) as his share. Karia had returned on Day 3 of the Colossus with 11 big blinds (2.3 Million) that took him as far as 89th place worth $4,910 (-₹3.38 Lakhs) in prize money. His deep run in the Colossus was his second score at the series. Karia, who we had featured as a Young Gun earlier this month, will next be seen playing events like the Mini Main Event, Little One For One Drop and the Main Event.

The stacks were already shallow when Day 3 began, and as expected, players fell like a house of cards. The field whittled down to 18 players in under an hour, and it took another 50 minutes to form the eight-handed final table.

Brazil’s Diego Lima (9th for $41,965) bubbled the final table in ninth place after his king-jack ran into Ryan Depaulo’s pocket kings.
