It’s been a spectacular month for Australia’s Robert Campbell (cover image) who had collected his first WSOP bracelet only a fortnight ago in Event #33: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw. Campbell has now captured his second bracelet in Event #67: $10,000 Stud Hi-Lo Championship to become the only player to have won multiple bracelets at the series so far.

Campbell bested the 151-player field and defeated Yueqi Zhu heads-up to bank $385,763 in cash prize. By winning a second event, Cambell has also taken the lead in the WSOP Player of the Year (POY) standings.

After his spectacular run, Campbell told reporters, “I had probably played less poker (coming into the summer) than I’ve ever played, and I felt really really excited to play. I was really excited to come to Vegas, much more excited than I had been in the past.”

A total of 151 players took a seat at the event, and most among them fell out empty-handed including Scott Clements, Scott Bohlman, Benny Glaser, Mike Gorodinsky, Phillip Hui, John Monnette, Marco Johnson, Shaun Deeb, David Bach, and David “Bakes” Baker.

Some hotshots who crossed the money bridge included Eli Elezra (11th for $23,664), Bryn Kenney (16th for $15,100), Jack Duong (23rd for $15,100).

Jesse Martin finished 10th for $29,000 and earned the tag of the final table bubble.

Final Table Recap

Larry Bernstein became the first player to fall at the hands of Mike Matusow, and though the shortest stack of the table, Steven Wolansky, managed a pay jump, his run ending ten minutes later.

Robert Campbell started to gather momentum at this stage and quickly moved himself up the ranks.

Meanwhile, Andrey Zhigalov was doing the opposite and found himself relegated to the rail in seventh place with Qinghai Pan following him there next.

Two-time bracelet winner Ryan Hughes was living on fumes and ultimately crashed out in fifth place. Mike Matusow himself was having a roller coaster of a ride and was eliminated by Zhu in fourth place.

Down to three-handed play, Cambell scalped Mike Wattel to enter the heads-up match with Yueqi Zhu.

Campbell started off with a 2:1 advantage and continued dominating Zhu. Zhu didn`t give in easily and fought back, even securing a double up, but that’s how far it went. On the last hand of the tournament, Campbell hit a straight on the seventh street to win the Stud Hi-Lo Championship title!
