The most prestigious poker tournament on the planet, the 2021 WSOP Event #67: $10K Main Event World Championship, cut through the 100-player mark on Day 5, with only 96 players advancing to Day 6. Abhinav Iyer (cover image), the lone Indian player entering the day`s play, pulled out a smashing run on Saturday as he spun up his 608K starting stack over 9X to bag 5.85 Million, placing him 22nd on the day-end chip counts list.
India`s first solo WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer is chasing his second career bracelet and the World Championship title. At the same time, he has entered the exclusive five-member club of Indians to have secured a top-100 finish in the WSOP Main Event.

Germany’s Koray Aldemir (14,325,000) leads the charge heading into Day 6, with the Day 4 chip leader Ramon Colillas (12,000,000) and Jonathan Dwek (10,125,000) carrying the other top stacks.
Chance Kornuth (5,920,000), Stephen Chidwick (3,710,000), Tyler Cornell (3,065,000), Stephen Song (2,765,000), Yuri Dzivielevski (2,030,000), and Nick Petrangelo (1,000,000) are among the other notables in contention to become the new WSOP Main Event champion!
Abhinav Iyer’s Day 5 Recap
Abhinav Iyer, who had won his WSOP Main Event seat on GGPoker, returned on Day 5 with a stack of 608,000, good for 25 big blinds. He got to work early by doubling up through Nicolas Dumont. Iyer’s made two-pair on the board to get the better of Dumont’s , climbing to 1,120,00.
By level 23, Iyer was sitting an over 2 Million stack, which he doubled in the next two levels of play.
In the last hour of play, Iyer busted Ravid Garbi with his , winning the race against Garbi’s pocket nines on the runout . Iyer scooped up the pot, laddering up to 5.90 Million.
Iyer dipped only slightly to bag 5.85 Million for Day 6 and is placed 22nd in the chip counts amongst 96 advancing players. He has already locked up at least a payout of $59,000 (~₹43.86 Lakhs).

The Day 5 field had two former WSOP Main Event champions in the mix, namely, Qui Nguyen (241st for $38,600) and Chris Moneymaker (260th for $38,600). However, both former World Champions could not last the 10+ hours of play, officiating the headline that a new WSOP Main Event champion will be crowned this year.
The two Indo-Americans in the running, Hiren Patel (139th for $50,900) and Neel Choksi (278th for $38,600), also fell out before the bags were brought out.
The other notable eliminated of the day included Tristan Wade (111th for $50,900), Jean-Luc Adam (147th for $50,900), Kyle Arora (168th for $44,200), Jason Koon (194th for $44,200), Natural8 Ambassador Phachara Wongwichit (209th for $44,200), and Justin Liberto (290th for $33,900).
Day 6 starts at noon (local time) on Sunday, November 14, with the 96 players starting off at Level 26 with the blinds at 40,000/80,000/80,000.
