WSOP 2022: Nino Ullmann Wins First WSOP Bracelet in Event #33: $3K 6-Handed NLHE ($594,079); Aditya Agarwal Finishes 58th (~₹6.99 Lakhs)

On Thursday, June 16, Nino Ullmann (cover image) became one of the newest members of the ‘WSOP Bracelet Winners Club’ after emerging victorious in Event #33: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em at the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP). He walked away with the $594,079 up top and his career-first gold bracelet!

Coming into the event, the German pro had cashed at the WSOP four times and boasted $12,346 in recorded winnings at the annual series. The victory has boosted his WSOP earnings to $606,425. Interestingly, Ullmann won his bracelet two days after arriving in Las Vegas, as he later said, “probably still jet-lagged and not realizing yet.”

Ullmann also admitted, “It was a tougher final table than expected, But I also ran really good.”

The two-day event registered 1,348 entries, and 55 players returned for the final day`s play on Thursday. Ullmann, who started the day as the chip leader, had to work hard for his maiden bracelets with quite a few notables still lurking in the field. After ten-hour of grueling play, he was the last player standing and defeated Timothy Flank (2nd for $37,181) heads-up to win his maiden gold bracelet.

The massive field generated a healthy $3,599,160 prize pool and paid out 203 places, with a min-cash worth $4,804.

Aditya Agarwal Picks Up 51st WSOP Cash

India’s poker stalwart Aditya Agarwal has had one of his best starts ever at the annual series in his 16 years of attending the WSOP! Making his third cash at the 2022 WSOP, the WSOP veteran finished 58th for $8,950 (₹6,99 Lakhs). This was his 51st WSOP cash (includes 2 WSOP circuit cashes).

Agarwal came out strong out of the gates, posting an FT finish in the first event he played at the series – placing ninth in Event #3: Freezeout No-Limit Hold ’em for $23,634 (~₹18.36 Lakhs). Nine days later, he pulled out another deepen run in Event #21: MONSTER STACK No-Limit Hold ’em, finishing 18th for $38,231 (~₹29.82 Lakhs).

As far as Agarwal is concerned, his eye will be on the magnum opus of the series – the Event #70: MAIN EVENT No-Limit Hold ’em World Championship – that will kick off on July 3. Agarwal has cashed the Main Event eight times – the highest by any Indian.

Among the 55 players who returned for the final day but fell short of the final table were Eddy Sabat (12th for $32,648), three-time bracelet winner Davidi Kitai (18th for $25,832), Pete Chen

(19th for $25,832), Vanessa Kade (21st for $25,832), Dmitry Yurasov (26th for $20,769) and Taylor Paur (30th for $16,971).

Dylan Linde’s elimination (8th for $54,656) got the unofficial seven-handed final table underway. His elimination had a rather sad story behind it, when his clashed with Goldberg’s . The board ran , getting Goldberg a double up through Linde. Five minutes later another tragedy struck Linde when his went up against Darren Elias’ . The runout did no favors for Linde as he exited in eighth place.

Within 20 minutes of the unofficial final table redraw, Timothy Flank’s cracked Fred Goldberg’s , when the former flopped a set on the board . Goldberg left in the seventh place collecting $72,363.

Entering the official final table, Lander Lijo picked up three pots in quick succession before clashing with soon-to-be bracelet winner Nino Ullmann. Lijo’s couldn`t hold up against Ullmann’s as the community cards opened , making Lijo the first final table casualty in sixth place.

The play continued for another two hours before poker veteran David Peters’ fell prey to Ullmann’s . The flop ran , giving Peters a lead, but the on the turn made matters worse for Peters. The on the river ensured Ullmann’s pot, pulling him ahead into a commanding chip lead (27,000,000). At the same time, Peters was relegated to the rail in fifth place.

Just ten minutes after the previous elimination, Darren Elias went up against Flank’s . The dealer brought out , giving Flank a flopped pair of Queens, which bettered to a straight on the turn, resulting in the fourth place elimination of Elias.

The game slowed down with the final three in contention. An hour and a half later, Anthony Hu’s went up against Ullmann’s . The board bricked, busting Hu in third place and setting up the heads-up match between Nino Ullmann and Timothy Flank.

It took less than 20 minutes for the heads-up play to conclude. The final hand of the tournament saw Flank’s squaring off with Ullmann’s . The community cards opened , giving Ullmann a flush on the turn for his maiden bracelet win.
