The ongoing 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online series currently underway at GGPoker and Natural8 is now officially beyond the halfway mark, with 26 bracelet events done and dusted, with 28 more to be awarded. According to stats provided by Natural8, the series has already logged in 93,906 entries and distributed a massive $52,691,438 in prize money.
Event #59 $2,500 Double Stack NLHE was the latest event to award a bracelet. The tournament kicked off at 6 PM UTC on Wednesday and attracted 1,061 entries to collect a prize pool of $2,519,875. Walking away with the biggest prize after the event’s 11-hour-long run was Brazil’s Leonardo ‘Babaehduro’ Mattos (cover image).
Mattos’ win brings Brazil’s tally of bracelet wins to nine. His most significant WSOP cash before this win for a paltry $2,508 that he had earned for a 216th place finish in Event #33: $1,111 Every 1 for COVID Relief [Caesars Cares] at the ongoing series. Mattos has improved upon that modest record after winning a life-altering $399,047 in the event and his career-first WSOP bracelet, not to forget a WSOP Europe package valued at $12,000.
Former bracelet champion ‘OBellaCiao’ finished 56th for $7,502 (~₹5.61 Lakhs).
Patryk ‘weedsmoker93’ Poterek was eliminated on the money bubble by Mattos, leaving the remaining 152 players in the money for at least $5,478.
Aku Joentausta (24th for $12,084), Stephen Chidwick (38th for $8,779), Kittu Kuo (84th for $6,411), Event #50 champion Enrico ‘GTOExploiter’ Camosci (94th for $6,411), Chris Moorman (111th for $5,478), Alex Foxen (139th for $5,478), Davidi Kitai (141st for $5,478), and GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu (152nd for $5,478) were some of the known pros that earned payouts.
Daniel ‘Razer2311’ Rezaei ($10th for $22,946) bubbled the final table.
Just as Rezaei was at the risk of elimination on one table, Manuel ‘John Mcclean’ Saavedra hit the rail in ninth place on another table, his king-jack outdone by Fabiano ‘MarkyAurelio’ Kovalski’s cowboys. Saavedra’s elimination left only eight contenders to resume play on the final table.

Final Table Recap
Shortly after play began on the final table, Yiannis ‘GreekFreaker’ Liperis was eliminated by Pedro ‘mrsweets29’ Madeira with the former`s ace-nine failing to catch up with Madeira`s ace-queen to take home an eighth-place payout.
The players went on a short break. When they returned, Madeira took out two players in quick succession, sending Fabiano ‘MarkyAurelio’ Kovalski out in seventh place, followed by Kevin ‘withered350’ Gibson in sixth place.
On the very next hand, Antonio ‘nanqtf’ Pedro found his pocket deuces dominated by Leonardo ‘Babaehduro’ Mattos’ ace-ten that flopped an ace-pair.
Nethanel ‘natykkk’ Klein next ran king-jack into Madeira’s pocket jacks that held up to end Klein’s run in fourth place.
The three-handed play went on for 40 minutes before Pedro ‘mrsweets29’ Madeira lost his chance to win the bracelet. Madeira jammed from the big blind with pocket eights, and Christopher ‘RambaZamba’ Putz looked him up with ace-king. Two sevens on the flop and an ace on the turn put Putz ahead with a higher two-pair, busting Madeira in third place.
The heads-up began with Christopher ‘RambaZamba’ Putz ahead with his stack of 30.12 Million vs. Mattos’ 22.9 million. Mattos quickly caught up to even things, and around 40 minutes later, he eliminated Putz. The final hand saw Putz moving all-in on the button for 10.1 Million. Mattos made the call.
