The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online series played out its fifth Asia Time Zone event on Saturday. Event #53: $800 Double Stack Pot Limit Omaha registered 831 entries, generating a prize pool worth $631,560, and the top 116 places got paid. Frank “Sbma2016” Crivello (cover image) came out on top to win his first bracelet, a WSOP Europe package valued at $12,000 and $94,253 in prize money. He boasts a career-best score worth $176,399 that he won for finishing 40th at the 2017 WSOP Main Event.
As expected, a slew of Indians was in attendance at the event chasing the elusive bracelet. For the first time at this online series, there were two Indian players on the final table. Delivering the most significant sweat for the team was Pulkit “PgTilt” Goyal, who placed ninth for $8,854 (~₹6.63 Lakhs). Indo-American Ajay “Ross_Geller” Chabra fell out next in eighth place for $12,080 (~₹9.05 Lakhs).
Chirag “Umeshbhai” Sodha was another player who managed a deep run, placing 20th for $3,487 (~₹2.61 Lakhs).
Among the other notables who finished ITM were Indian-origin Mohsin Charania (12th for $6,490), Manig Loeser (16th for $4,575), Kosei Ichinose (23rd for $3,487), Bryan “Macallan18” Micon (51st for $2,222), Mike Watson (63rd for $1,997), GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu (105th for $1,795) and Kahle Burns (116th for $1,795).
Meanwhile, the much-awaited Event #54: $10,000 Heads-Up Championship played out Day 1, where a starting field of 128 runners was cut down to just four survivors. The bracelet contenders include two-time bracelet winner Michael Addamo, well-known pros Michael Zhang & David Peters, and wild card Alyssa MacDonald. The tourney goes on a six-day-long hiatus now, and these four will resume play on Saturday to play down to a winner.

Team India’s sweat was short-lived as both the Indian players fell out first. Pulkit “PgTilt” Goyal exited in ninth place. The hand in question saw Frank “Sbma2016” Crivello opening the pot with . Goyal 3-bet it to 2.25 Million with . Crivello re-raised enough to put Goyal all-in, and Goyal took the bait. The board ran getting Crivello the pot.
The Indo-American Ajay “Ross_Geller” Chabra was next on the chopping block and took eighth place, going out to Julijan “Grgur” Rados.
The string of eliminations continued with Markus “Phil Kessel” Cara, Jin “SharkLeeeee” Li, Tszfai “WinEasy” Tong and Yonathan “ninoboys80” Journo falling in quick succession of each other.
After nearly a dozen hands, Julijan “Grgur” Rados hit the rail in third place, setting up the heads-up between Frank “Sbma2016” Crivello (31,206,752) and Craig Timmis (10,343,248).
Timmis managed to take the lead after a double up but eventually settled for the runner-up spot. On the last hand of the tourney, Timmis open-shoved his 30 bigs with , and Crivello called with . The board ran getting Crivello the bracelet, a WSOP Europe package and $94,253 in prize money!
