The ongoing 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online at WSOP.com has now crossed the halfway mark, and the bracelet tourney that caught all the attention on Wednesday was Event #15: $1,000 PLO 8-Max HR.

The tournament attracted a 663-entry field that included 386 unique players and 277 rebuys. While it was the final table chip leader Todd ‘chit.420’ Sladek, who looked like the obvious favorite for the most part on the final table, it was Gul ‘PhilLaak’ Dunlap who ultimately clinched the bracelet.

The Portland, Oregon native had a modest $106,317 in live tournament winnings to his name before this landmark victory. He’s now joined the spate of recent first-time bracelet champions by winning the event for $133,780!

The WSOP also made an important announcement. Event #29 on the schedule has been changed to a $2,000 NLHE Deepstack.

Former attorney-turned poker pro and two-time bracelet champion Anthony ‘heheh’ Zinno was the most prominent player on the FT. He fired two bullets in the event. Down to 6,000 in chips at one point, Zinno spun it up in Level 16 after scoring a triple-up and then doubling up. He entered the final table with the shortest stack and went just as far, making his way out in eighth place.

A min-cash of $1,574.62 was guaranteed to the final 99 finishers, and the bubble burst in Level 20 with ‘wippitywap’ becoming the last player to be eliminated empty-handed.

The 2013 WSOP Main Event champion Brent ‘grebnrets’ Roberts was eliminated by Ryan ‘bitc0in’ Riess in Level 17.

Six-time bracelet champion Daniel ‘DNegs’ Negreanu, Indo-American Ankush ‘rickrosstheb’ Mandavia, Nick Pupillo, Philip Yeh, and Mike ‘Mouth123’ Matusow were among the many prominent players who failed to make it past the bubble.

Calvin ‘projector52’ Anderson (11th for $6,865.36), Michael ‘Annie_R_U_OK’ Trivett (13th for $5,416.71), Event #3 winner Robert ‘bustinballs’ Kuhn (15th for $5,416.71), Event #6 winner Nathan ‘surfbum’ Gamble (28th for $3,023.28), Ricky ‘ratedgto’ Guan (32nd for $3,023.28), David Prociak (40th for $2,582.38), Event #13 champion

Michael ‘miguelfiesta’ Lech (43rd for $2,582.38) and Erik ‘NW1Time’ Seidel (60th for $2,015.52), were among the notable ITM finishers.

The final table set into motion after Bryan ‘Pellepelle’ Piccioli was eliminated in 9th place for $8,817.90.

Final Table Recap

Two-time bracelet winner Anthony ‘heheh’ Zinno was the shortest stack on the final table, and he didn’t last long, earning an eighth-place payout after his set of aces were cracked by Matt ‘jacksup Matros’ flush.

The start-of-the-final-table chip leader Todd ‘chi.t.420’ Sladek then dispatched Matt ‘jacksup Matros and Blake ‘shampainpopn’ Whittington quickly, in seventh and sixth place, respectively.

Around 20 minutes later, Shane ‘danish01’ Daniels knocked ‘thxsimgod’ out in fifth place. He spiked two-pair on the river to dominate the latter’s pair of nines.

Daniels added more chips to his stack by sending Jacob ‘Bandit275’ Powers out in the very next hand, his open-ended straight draw with getting there against Powers’ on the rundown.

Three-handed, Todd ‘chi.t.420’ Sladek was ahead of the other two by a massive margin. Things went downhill for him over the next 30 minutes as he lost the chip advantage and eventually his tournament life to exit in third place. Sladek had turned a straight on his elimination hand, but Daniels rivered a broadway straight, ending the one-time WSOPC ring winner’s bracelet hopes.

Less than 10 minutes later, it was all over as Dunlap claimed his first piece of WSOP gold. Daniels opened for 400,000 and Dunlap 3-bet to 1.2 Million. Daniels called.

Flop

Dunlap fired a bet of 1.8 Million, and Daniels called off for his last 1.622 Million.
