The final frontier of the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online on GGPoker/ Natural8 – Event #83: $10K WSOP Super MILLION$ – is hours away from bringing the curtains down on this historic series. The tournament opened to action on September 6, drawing 899 entries. After an intense battle that lasted more than 11 hours, only nine players remain in contention, and India’s “M26GreenWood” leads the pack with an enormous stack of 18,734,404.

This is the second deep run for the Indian who came within striking distance of winning a bracelet in Event #63: $500 Mini Main Event, eventually finishing runner-up for $586,157 (~₹4.38 Crores).

The $10K buy-in brought in a stacked field of experienced players in Event #83. Still, the Indian player managed to make short work of several tough opponents, including the Event #44 champion Kristen Bicknell. The final hour was swingy for the player who lost a big chunk of their stack to Connor Drinan, but orchestrated a dramatic comeback and drove into the chip lead after their pocket jacks won a crucial flip against Christopher Kruk’s ace-queen.

This has been an outstanding series for Team India with numerous FT finishes and a few runner-up finishes, not to forget the bracelet victory of “Mandovi” in Event #64: $840 Turbo Bounty NLHE. Now with “M26GreenWood” entering the final day of the event in a commanding chip lead, Team India has a strong chance to finish things off in style.

At least one more Indian, namely, “raavan” (62nd for $29,160 – ₹21.42 Lakhs), cashed in the event.

Entering the final table, Sylvain “couchpotato” Loosli (13,858,427) is a distant second to “M26GreenWood,” with Viktor “juStic3” Ustimov (12,219,728) rounding out the top three stacks. Christopher Kruk (11,092,664), former WPT champion Daniyar “AlmaAAta” Aubakirov (9,893,085) and Connor Drinan (9,836,965) hold the next top stacks.

Recapping the Day 1 play, players were permitted to fire up to three bullets. With the field size eventually growing 899-strong, the $5 Million guarantee for blown out of the park as a prize pool of $8.72 Million was generated. The top 134 places got paid with a min-cash worth $21,483. The bubble burst in Level 27, eight hours into play after Andy “sodiumNa” Jiang got eliminated by Loosli.

No sooner was the money reached that the floodgates of eliminated ensued. In less than two hours, the event was down to the final three tables.

Along the way, many players hit the rail. Making the payouts list were former bracelet champions Arkadiy “Kamsky” Tsinis (11th for $80,109), Event #82 champion Melika “Melirazavii” Razavi (13th for $80,109), Sung Joo “ArtePokerTV” Hyun (21st for $42,189), and Joao Vieira (26th for $42,189), along with Sam “OkillyDokily” Trickett (27th for $33,973), Stephen Chidwick (43rd for $33,973), Ivan Luca (50th for $29,160), Chris “nelanio” Ferguson (54th for $29,160), Indo-American Shankar Pillai (69th for $29,160), Nick Schulman (95th for $25,029), Adrian Mateos (103rd for $21,483), and GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu (128th for $21,483).

All the nine finalists have locked up at least $110,389 and will resume play at 6 PM (GMT) on Tuesday, September 8, to win the final bracelet of the series and the $1.423 Million up-top cash prize.

The final table will be live-streamed (with delay) on GGPoker.TV with cards up coverage.
